How'd you get into your favourite series?

Pokemon will always probably be my favorite series of all time.

It wasn't the anime that got me started into the games, actually, watching it came after I found out about Red and Yellow when I was round about 5 or 6 years old. An elder cousin had been with me and my mom for the day and he just so happened to have had his gameboy on him. A copy of Red had been in the slot and I all but begged him to let me play after watching him for a little while.

The rest was history. I don't think I let up on my parents about getting myself a gameboy until it was actually in my hands Christmas day once 'Santa' had made his visit along side a copy of not only Red, but Yellow as well.

I've been a loyal player ever since...

I got into Pokemon when I was around five or six. My brother taught my sister and I how to play Sapphire on the GBA. He'd let me use the Battle Factory in Emerald once I could play on my own. I also watched the anime. When I was seven, my mom and grandma brought me to GameStop and I got LeafGreen as my first video game. I've been hooked since.

Been playing Pokemon since the first generation, after they became super popular. Played Red on an emulator before finally switching to a Game Boy with Crystal and Yellow.

Metal Gear Solid was suggested by a friend. I didn't have a PS1 so I played the PC version which also included all the VR Missions. After getting a (family) PS2 during Christmas 2001, my mom gave me some money for a memory card and a game the following summer. Walked into the store and the first game I saw was MGS2. Been a fan of the series ever since.

The very first Devil May Cry was bought for me by my ex-girlfriend. She bought 2 and 3 for me as well, after that we broke up. Still a huge fan of the old series and occasionally play through them. The HD editions just make it easier.

When I was young we didn't have much money, but my mother did get me an NES with some games. One of them was Kirby's Adventure, which I played the hell out of. It's only recently that I'm able to play more Kirby games, but I'm loving all of them.

Golden Sun I decided to play after seeing the kickass ad for it on TV. The ad had nothing to do with the game, but it got me pumped regardless. I ended up loving it and I've completed the two GBA games around 20 times, DS title around 10.

I frequented a game store a lot during my teens and there was a single game they could never get rid of, and they never adjusted its price. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness was always displayed prominently in the PS2 section. I eventually got Disgaea 1 and 2 on PSP and became addicted. I have Disgaea 4 for the Vita pre-ordered because I can't wait to have it suck up my life for a while.

Big fan of all of those, so it's a big post. Memories~

Forgot one. Silent Hill.

I had heard a lot about it but didn't really have an interest until I saw Silent Hill 3 on sale at the game store mentioned above. Asked a few friends about it and ended up buying 1, 2 and 3. I was scared ****less because I was still a pansy at the time, but loved them. I'm really sad about what's become of the series after 4, and hope Kojima and del Toro will make Silent Hills the game it should be.

I got into professor layton after I saw an advert for the Unwound Future game. Ever since I've been hooked! I'm a big fan of Unwound Future and Diabolical Box but wasn't that keen on the 3DS game. Either way I'm a huge fan! ^_^ Haven't met a whole lot of people who play/like the Layton series but that's alright~ I strongly recommend it to anyone who likes puzzles and a curious storyline~

I always knew what Pokemon was but I finally got into it when I was 8. My mom and I were in Blockbuster (Ahhh I miss Blockbuster) and I saw a pack of Pokemon cards. I asked my mom if I could get it just to see what they were all about. She said yes and I fell in love. When I opened the pack the first card on top was a Raichu, which to this day continues to be my favorite Pokemon. From there I got my best friend hooked on trading cards too. We even went to a competition at Dragon's Den. There were only three people there, but it was still fun.

I got into the video games when another friend of mine showed me her Sapphire game. I became hooked on it and she let me borrow it for a while. Soon I was begging my parents to get me a DS and my own copy of Pokemon. They finally got me Emerald and a black DS Lite for my birthday and it was probably the best thing to ever happen to me. My best friend got FireRed. We played and talked about Pokemon all the time. God I miss her. I wish we didn't grow apart.

When I was maybe eight I went to this place to get a haircut, and they had the seats set up so you could play video games during it. I got to play Wind Waker and I thought it was the coolest game ever because you could smash vases and chase pigs and stuff so my parents ended up buying the game for me, and later I fell in love with the whole series.

Wish I knew where there were hair salons that let you play Wind Waker while they cut your hair...

My favorite series are Animal Crossing and Kingdom Hearts

I got into Animal Crossing when I visited my grandparents for a week in the summer, I was probably 10. The Christmas before that summer they bought a GameCube for their grandchildren to use when they visited and because they didn't have many games at the time they went to Block Buster and rented Animal Crossing: Population Growing. It was the greatest game of my childhood and I was obsessed from the start. If they didn't rent that game I wouldn't be the Animal Crossing obsessed adult I am today lol.

I got into Kingdom Hearts during another summer a few years later. My brother was visiting my grandparent for the summer and because of that I had free rein of the video game consoles (hallelujah) and my dad and I went to Block Buster to rent a movie and I wondered into the video game section and saw Kingdom Hearts 2, I thought it looking cool because it had Disney characters in it lol so I asked my dad if I could get it (number 1 wasn't there) and then I proceeded to play it day and night until it had to be returned. And after all these years I'm still waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 -_-

I got into Pokemon after falling in love with the TV show when I was young, and got the video game shortly thereafter. I've been hooked ever since.

My favorite series is the Earthbound series, I found it 2 years ago but I barely remember how. I always knew about Ness since he was in Smash and I knew about Earthbound, I just never payed much attention to it but one day I decided to try it & best decision ever. I played Mother 3 first, then Earthbound & EB Zero.

And Pokemon I got into since I was really young, maybe 3 or so? First I used to watch the anime & later on I started collecting a few plushies/toys and it all went downhill from there lol. It's made a huge impact in my life I think.

When Wild World came out, my sister's friends were talking about Animal Crossing. I was some crazy animal fan when I was younger, so I wanted to try it out. I've always been better an saving money than my older sister, so I bought it before her (which she wasn't very happy about). I loved it and played it everyday until I finally got bored of it and it sat on the shelf, collecting dust.

A few years later, I saw the advert for City Folk or "Let's go to the city", and I was super excited for it. I bought it as soon as it came out, and then decided to buy Population: Growing to try out the previous games.

Other games like Pokemon or Mario Kart have a pretty similar explanation.

Pokemon when the TV series started. Saturday morning Kids WB cartoons man. At least I think that's how I got into it, if it wasn't that it was the 20-in-1 or 30-in-1 cartridges my grandmother gave me, my brother and my cousins that had everything up to Gold and Silver there plus some ROM Hacks. Like for example Super Pikachu Land, a hack of Super Mario Land for the GB. First legitimate game was Pokemon Crystal.

Some kid up the road was really obsessed with pok?mon, and it took him years to convince me to try it. I got Platinum with him close to the release date, and I was hooked immediatly! We had so much fun going through the game together, and we spent countless hours doing multi-battles in the Battle Frontier. Those were the days... I wish I didn't move from that neighborhood when I think of them.

my favorite gaming series of all time is resident evil. i got into it from my ex, and it's one of the only good things that came out of that relationship. he bought me re4 for my birthday one year after playing re5 with him and telling him that i enjoyed it. i've been hooked ever since. i even plan on getting the umbrella co. logo on my wrist as a tattoo. i am a huuuuge fan, and if you get me talking about it, i won't ever shutup.
