How to Trade/Buy/Sell Villagers?

I really don't understand the process of trading villagers.
My friend has a villager that I really want so I'd like to take him to my town but I dunno how!
Could someone please explain how it all works?

Basically once the villager your friend has asks to move and their moving date arrives, you need to visit your friends town and go speak to the villager then you can invite them to move to your town. You must have less than 10 villagers at the time so you have space for them to move in, it's just like inviting someone from the campsite.
