Purple Tulips, purple pansies and black cosmos.

I've been trying and nothing. I use a guide that said i have to do:
-Orange Tulip x Orange Tulip=Purple Tulip.
-Orange Cosmos x Orange Cosmos=Black Cosmos.
-Red Pansie x Blue Pansie=Red Special Pansie.
-Red Special Pansie x Red Special Pansie= Purple Pansie.

What i'm doing wrong?

i would check out thonky's site if you're looking to breed hybrids! it helps me a lot

according to it the best ways to breed for purple tulips are:

Red x Red Tulips
Red x Orange Tulips
Purple x Purple Tulips

i normally just plant them in a checkered pattern and only water the ones i'm trying to get a hybrid from, i don't know for sure if it's true but i remember reading a long while back that it helps if you water just the flowers you're trying to breed and not any other kind - supposedly that specific kind would be the only ones that spawn the next day and the chances of breeding a hybrid are greater then!

Thank you so much, i'm going to try.

Thank you, that was helpful.

Those methods only worked in City Folk and Wild World. In New Leaf, yellow tulips can't breed with yellow and they only produce orange tulips when they're bred with red tulips.

Crossbreeing red tulips with each other never produced purple for me. I kept getting black tulips instead.

Another way to breed purple pansies is by crossbreeding blue and orange. If they spawn a red or another orange pansy, wait until you get more orange pansies from combining orange and blue, then move the newly spawned orange pansies into another area.
