How to make villager wear original shirt?

The only way I know to do it is to send the shirt to them in a letter. I did this with a few villagers and most of them put it on immediately. However, some of them (I'm looking at YOU in that ugly orange shirt, Jacques) put the shirt in their house instead (Jacques has 3 red flannel shirts in his house because I keep sending them to him).

It seems to work for me more often than naught, however, and if you don't care about what their house interior looks like, I'd recommend doing it. Also, if you don't want them to wear the patterns at the Able Sisters, you can make your own shirts and they will occasionally wear them, or you can make all of the patterns on display be umbrellas or dresses and I believe they won't pick those up (dresses with pro designs would probably be the safest as they can't wear those).

Also, don't deliver presents from villagers to another villager (though you may be able to open it first to see what's inside and then still give it to them). If it's a shirt, they may change into it immediately, or it may just enter their inventory and they may put it on later. The same goes for selling clothes to villagers when they ask for it. I'll forever regret selling the royal shirt to Olivia... so ugly on her. Then it infected the town and 2 other villagers started wearing it somehow @_@

mail them a Lot of it and they will wear one, but also probably sell some, give away some, put one up in their house and put it up in retail. lol. but honesty giving shorts to them or mailing them shirts is the easiest way i know.

i once saw somewhere that they're more likely to wear one of you send them like 5 at a time or something like that..? never tried it myself so idk if it works, but yeah keep sending them to her if you want ;w;
or just give up, it can be a pain to keep them in nice looking clothes (i know the Pain, half my town was wearing the fishing vest for months before i decided to spam them with letters with other clothes)

In my old town, Kidd had infected nearly 5 people with the mummy shirt, and he kept changing into pink girly clothes. lol Now, in my new town, Bam just put on a grape shirt, and... it's not flattering at all. xD

But like others said, replace all the designs in Able Sisters with umbrellas/dresses (or make your own to display if you want to) and send them flattering clothes in the mail until they change out of the ugly designs/clothes.

I feel like battling them to wear their original shirt is pointless unless you're selling them. Just send them stuff that will look better. They'll eventually put it on- or not! I kept sending Muffy clothes but she never changed from the green duck scarf even though I had banished that design the moment I saw her wearing it weeks ago. I got fed up and tattled to Isabelle and her clothing changed to a red and white scarf- not ideal for an elegant gothic lolita sheep but better.

Basically everyone in my town is wearing either the mist tee or the military tee. But just seems like so much work to send them all clothes because every time i do they end up putting it in their house on display /sigh
