how to keep emotions on after turning off guide on Harv's island?

whenever i was done setting everything up, emotions, furniture and all, i turn off the guide to switch to camera mode to get an angle and to zoom, my villagers would always be back to emotionless and this kinda ruins things. How do you guys take nice pictures on Harv's island?

I believe if you press A or something like that while you're trying to take the picture, they will restart their emotions!
