How to have a villager not to wear a particular item

I accidentally gifted a villager a superhero mask and she likes to wear it quite often. But it looks ridiculous on her! Now I don’t know how to let her get rid of it/not to wear it. Complaining to Isabelle didn’t work... Any ideas?

Give her other accessories/clothing you like and she'll replace it eventually I think

Gave her glasses yesterday, but today she had the superhero mask again! I guess I have to keep trying

Who is it? I feel like they wear it more if they like the style and color of clothes. I use Nook Plaza to check on items certain villagers like

They can keep up to 24 items in their wardrobe before taking some out, as i read. I guess accessories might be part of that number. Complaining to Isabelle wont work because that feature is for getting rid of custom designs.

i had flora with the caveman outfit for months. For me the quickest way is to move her out to get her back. If it's not one of the new villager you prob get them back for a decent price.

Gruff somehow (no idea, since I certainly didn't hand it to him) decided proper attire for the K.K. concert yesterday was a purple towel wrap.
