How to get better items?

Hello!!! So here's a ~fun question... how do y'all get better items? I feel like my Nooklings only ever rotate the same 6 ugly things LOL

Is it worth it to make a wishlist? If so, where's the best place to trade? And what happens if you in return don't have anything good to catalog? I feel like somehow I am truly behind on having interesting furniture or DIYs lol

You can always make a wishlist and buy or trade things from here. I trust this site more than I do Nookazon.

I definitely agree that it's so hard to find decent items in-game. I'd say to make a wishlist on either VillagerDB, Nook Plaza, or Nookazon, and then look for the items here! There are tons of kind people here who will help you find your items in exchange for TBT, IGB, NMT, or any in-game items they may be looking for. But if you don't have items, there are always people who accept bells! The only site I'd advise against using for actual trading is Nookazon; they tend to grossly overcharge.

A month or two after the game came out, I went on the Nookazon discord and paid NMT to go to an island where I could catalog full several full sets - the complete furniture sets in all colors, all the musical instruments, all the plants, etc. I went to another one that had all the kitchen stuff.

Not sure how many people are still offering things like that, and it can cost quite a bit of NMT depending on the host, but it saves a lot of time to catalog a ton of stuff in one trip vs. doing a bunch of individual trades.

A lot of my coolest items are from other generous peoples' stores here on the forum. Otherwise, my cool items are seasonal craftables! Love that they are (usually) customizable so I can get the exact color combo I want!

Most of my items are traded/catalogued as well, as Nook's Cranny never had the right colours for me. I did most of the cataloguing early on in the game, when everyone here was quite busy cataloging all sorts of stuff. It seems a bit slower now...

What really helped me was just putting my wishlist in my signature! I've had people show up when I opened up my island on heavy meteor shower nights or DIY giveaways with wishlist items, which was a lovely surprise And it makes it easy to go onto the Nook's Cranny board here, look for people that are looking to buy/trade things, and just ask if they have anything from my wishlist in return. (mind you, I don't mind giving stuff away for free if not, you might have to come up with better prices).

It is absolutely worth making a wishlist! It helps to make one on a site that shows all the different colors and styles that each item comes in. My Nooklings only sell worthless crap like incense burners and coffee cups so I’ve definitely made the most of trading/buying stuff on the forums to acquire cool items.

For me its not hard to find the items I want, but the specific variant of them.

May have to use some of eshop funds for a quick trade session via online.

I have to scope the individual items out by offering to trade variant items with people or buy it from others just to have it.

I've traded both on the trading forum here and on Nookazon.

I recommend Nookazon for wishlisting.

On here, the most wanted currency is TBT. Which you earn by posting and being an involved community member.

On Nookazon, a lot of people are looking for NMT and wishlist items, but many people still accept in game bells.

Both websites have review systems so you can check those before you trade with someone.

I like the community on here, but theres just a lot more people on Nookazon, so things go faster.

Definitely have a look in the nooks cranny thread as there are people who are selling the items for a cheap tbt price and even people offering cataloging on their island to help get those items and other colour variations

I pretty much only trade here. It’s a great group! I do need to make a wishlist and will do that soon.

Redd, shaking trees, and Wisp are the best ways to get new furniture/furniture color in-game but its still a frustrating process, since Redd and shaking trees can also bear repeat furniture.

What helped me was nook.exchange, discord servers where someone hosted large amounts of touch trades for NMT or IGB, or 1:1 furniture exchange.

I'd say patience and checking the store every day. I've noticed some items show up more than others but the rarer ones appear eventually.

If it's something I don't want for or in a variant I don't have, I just trade/buy from other people.

most of my items are things that I traded on here for!! everyone here has been super helpful and lovely whenever I've done trading and I would definitely recommend it! otherwise I get random furniture from shaking trees on mystery islands or balloons occasionally
