Hey all,

I just started playing again after months of not because of school and I feel very behind everyone xD What are some helpful tips to help me please?

i honestly think one of the biggest things that helps is to remind yourself that it isn't a contest -- you're not behind, you're just working at your own pace!

there are a few more concrete things i can suggest, though:

1. straight up restart the game. i hadn't taken a break from the game, but i was feeling a lack of motivation and i restarted my entire island after 570 hours. this is really drastic, of course! but playing from the beginning with a completely blank slate was very motivating for me personally; your mileage obviously may vary.

2. start looking through social media for inspiration. i just dipped my toes into animal crossing community stuff on instagram tonight, and some people on there are on a completely different level (like are we even playing the same game?), but you can still glean a lot of inspiration through that. i have also used pinterest a lot and that's been a great resource too.

3. this is my personal favorite way to get motivated: having people over your island and giving you their thoughts. i cannot get enough feedback from the group of people i play with and it always lights a fire under me to get stuff done.

hopefully some of that was helpful and you can get back into enjoying the game soon!

Find a few things to work on. Set goals, just have fun.

- Wanna get more of a hybrid? Work on that.
- Wanna get some villager pictures? Work on that.
- Start of a bit of a terraforming project. Pick a part of the island and redo it.

You've got a lot of options.

Honestly I would start cleaning up the mess around your island after not playing for so long. Like you will see a lot of Weeds all over and you should pick them up. Also when you go into your home you will see there are like roaches inside so kill them all. Talk to your villagers also because they miss you and wonder you have been. I mean despite how repetitive the dialogue in this game is at least the villagers still care about you.

As for your island let me just speak from experience do not compare yourself to other people's islands. Trust me I made that mistake when I was feeling uneasy about my island and I just made whatever stand out to me and I felt more better afterwards. If there are stuff on your island you felt like wasn't working last time you should make some changes to it so you feel more comfortable. You can move any of your shops that you feel like was a bit too far to get to, to an area thats a lot closer. My advice put the shop near Resident Services if you have any space.

Lastly if there are some villagers that you feel like you don't want anymore I would suggest moving them out, if you see a thought bubble above their head that means they are thinking of moving out. If you want them to stay thats fine but if you feel like you want some new villagers and you want to keep the game fresh its best to let them go. Let yourself breath in with the new content that you may have missed throughout the months and it may take some time to keep up of what you missed. If you need any help getting items, diys you can always ask for help on the Market Forums.

The first thing to remember is that you shouldn't compare your island to anybody else's. At the end of the day, what everyone else has is not important. It's all about what YOU want for YOUR island.

Now... what do you want? Are you trying to come up with a theme? Various areas on your island? Do you have to move any of the buildings? If so, you'll definitely want to start getting some of that money so you can go about doing that.

Any terraforming? Break it up one area at a time. That's what I've done, although I don't even do terraforming really. Just decide what area I want to have something, and I get it set up. I've done a small playground type area, a shell beach area, small rock and picnic area, outdoor diner... it's pretty fun really!

Your house is always something to look at too. Figure out what you want each room to be, decide on the style, and acquire the furniture!

Plus overall island decoration! That's something I love doing, decorating for the current season. So much fun!

Just a few things. Hope it helps!

As someone who took a hiatus from the game from August to November, I know it can be hard to return. Maybe try finding a friend to play and discuss the game with, or use the upcoming holidays as an excuse to decorate your town. Setting goals is unusually a good way to slowly get back into the habit of playing.

I've found after being gone for so long, it made it easier to commit to certain adjustments to my town I probably wouldn't have otherwise.
