how to get a villager to move out peacefully?

The guide did not specifically say that low friendship = more likely to move out... that's something i heard online. But what I said about how to affect the friendship score is from the guide. We need dataminers to answer for us. Good luck!

For now, the friendship score is most useful for if you want to get their photo.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the "I want to move" thought bubble will cycle around to everyone eventually. I COULD NOT get it to go to certain villagers even after multiple attempts and game resets (ie. resetting from home screen before autosave kicks in, which shifts the thought bubble if you do it fast enough) buuuut that could just be because they kept going inside their homes/the museum/etc.

I did seem to have a harder time getting newer villagers to move out, but they will eventually. I personally just TT further to try to get a specific villager to move, rather than resetting, so idk if that makes a difference.

Really, amiibo cards are the best way to get people to move out.

Guh I tried that too... I went back to bunny day then went forward 15 days, then went forwards a day at a time for a few days... then went another 15 days or something. But Fauna and Poppy, who were among the first to move in, won't budge. (Don't get me wrong I like them both but 4 normals is a bit too much)

I had this issue with Katt. No matter how much I time travelled she would not ask to leave. So I started talking to her everyday, all day. Until she told me to leave her alone. She finally asked to leave for the very first time after all my other villagers had asked to leave first. Good luck

time travel... I go a month in advance and it’s almost always guaranteed to get an islander thinkin about moving

That’s interesting. We were going on a month trying to get rid of a villager, we tried ignore; shoving until they were mad; whacking with tools; and fencing them in their house methods with no success. The day we decided to talk to them, give a gift and chat normally, they opted to move out!

Fencing them in def wouldn't do anything as the villagers won't recognise that they're fenced in. They don't have the power of deduction to realise "hmmm, I can't get out of my house, this is because a fence is in the way," nor will they deduce who put the fence there (even though it could only be one person!) For the same reason dropping trash and planting pitfalls outside their door won't affect your relationship either.

Villagers who will think of moving out are really random.

I am already best friends with Sterling, my 7th villager since the game's release. I even got his photo. But he still thought of leaving my island.
