how to gain weight

wat do u expect from the average user of this forum

In general? Not to give advice on a topic that you don't know about.

Specifically? To especially keep advice to yourself when it regards someone else's health. The only advice to give here is to have the person trying to gain weight go to the doctor to figure out why she can't keep weight on. It's likely something to do with her appetite, but there are many reasons appetite may be reduced/absent. Or it could be a myriad of other reasons.

So what I expect, I guess is for people to stick to their own area of expertise when giving advice. It's better to actually know a few things than it is to pretend to know everything. Commenting is completely unnecessary when you have no idea what you are saying.

MUCH of the advice in this thread encourages the OP to develop an eating disorder. So, yeah, it upsets me to see young people saying those kinds of things.

There's some really f-ing terrible advice in here.

Including "binge eat all the time"

What terrible advice.

First thing you should do is ask a doctor why you can't keep weight on. Get a full physical, including blood tests.

You might have an issue with your thyroid. I'm not sure how common it is, but a close friend of mine had a hyperactive thyroid and couldn't put weight on at all.

DO NOT CHANGE YOUR EATING HABITS WITHOUT TALKING TO A DOCTOR. It's incredibly unhealthy to binge eat junk food. No matter how skinny you are.

Yes, please don't binge eat. That will not do anything except ruin your health. >.<

my brother is like you too, he's been trying to gain muscle since he didn't want to look 'thin'. he eats a lot of protein (like protein shakes, peanut butter, meat etc) and I think it's slowly helping. some people just have a high metabolism so that's probably why. but if you think it's something else definitely see a doctor. and never over-eat. just as long as you're eating healthy stuff i think you'll be fine.

If you were eating a lot and were not gaining weight, I'd say you were overestimating your calorie intake but as you just have a lack of appetite you should go to the doctor, it's not normal to not eat for 1-2 days and not feel hungry.

Also, muscle is difficult to put on. It'd take you a year to even gain 10lbs of muscle. Even 5lbs, people would ask you what you were taking to do that.

I kinda have the same problem. I'm skinny, but my weight doesn't fluctuate. It usually just stays the same for weeks. I'm trying to gain weight but I just don't feel like eating snacks which may be the reason why I don't gain weight. I never exercise but I do eat three meals everyday. I always eat more and faster than my friends at lunch so its pretty weird ^^'.

I find meal replacement shakes to be very useful to gain weight. I hope they work for you too~ I drink Ensure. They can be kind of pricey though :C

Omg I feel the exact same way, im in 10th grade and everyone is muscles and big but I'm only 116 lbs and I range from 110-116 I eat a lot my metabolism is too high and I hate it, my friends are so jealous but I'm not they wish they could lose weight I wish I could gain it... And somedays I skip dinner bc of hw or I feel it's not important enough... Like I could be doing other things... My dad is getting me to work out a lot but giving me way too much protein to the point of stomach aches soooo bad. Idk I'm a mess... I could drink a soda and be full if I could.
