How to Begin Landscaping for Noobies?

So.. I am beginning to plan out my new town. I was never interested in landscaping before, but after watching COUNTLESS dream diaries I am preparing myself to get a town like that. I look around my map and plan out possible areas for such things, but sometimes I am stumped. I know what areas to make as of now, but I was wondering what some of you guys did with places that really couldn't fit lots of things, do you just stuff them with flowers? lol.

So far, I plan to have the following areas:

Zen garden (who doesn't lol)
A playground


... and then I'm stumped. >.< I'm not very creative, so I am watching a lot of dream diaries from YouTube but I feel feel like mine won't look as great. I'm stocking up on bush starts and hybrids at the moment. If you guys have any tips.. please help :3 I reset to get a great map for landscaping ahead of time as well, I'm also trying to get PWPs. ^_^

My town is by no means great. I enjoy my town and I think it is pretty, but lordy it's not like some fancy towns I see. But I planned out paths with flowers. You can get them en masse through island tours, you can pick them up, move them and generally have more mobility than you would with bushes and it's easier than laying paths. Of course, when you approve of your new path, then you can lay paths and it falls together a lot easier than you would think. My town is in a work-in-progress, but I can get you my dream address if you're interested?

I like different kinds of forests pretty much. I like my park (the finished right side) the most though probably.
I also plan on probably doing a playground once I'm finally asked for the PWP:s. >-< Maybe my dream address could inspire you?
