Well my dreamies are a combination of villagers I really like and those that match my island theme. It’s a mix of popular and not so popular villagers.
My dreamies have consistently stayed in tiers 2 and 3, which is fairly popular in my mind. Never cared for any of the tier 1s from NL. Raymond’s the first tier 1 I’ve had an interest in.
My whole island is drowning in generic new popular villagers+a couple of wolves I adore haha <3 have they grown on me though? absolutely so no loss on the end of generic haha.

Zucker is my number one dreamie, too, so that's so sweet.
I'm not sure if the others qualify as dreamies really because this time around I'm a lot more open to other villagers but they are as follows (not necessarily in that order)-

Olivia
So yeah, I think there's a mix in here of some fairly or very popular ones (like Sherb or Zucker) and some that are not popular at all (Peggy, Boyd, etc.).
I just started and with the prices of Amiibo cards being sky high, I'm pretty conservative with my list. However, comparing to my ideal dreamies list, it doesn't seem that far off from others. I just think 5 or so villagers have great design that is very welcoming and resonates with most players.
Some of my favorite villagers are Frank, Teddy, Egbert, Butch, Kitty, Gonzo, Octavian or Dobie.. Dunno, some of them are more popular then others I guess
Not very original. But honestly, popular villagers are popular for a reason. Usually their designs are the best or most unique. I'd rather be unoriginal and have cute popular villagers than have a villager who grosses me out. I personally do think that some unpopular villagers have really great designs and I'm not sure why they aren't more popular.
doesn't matter if your dreamie list is generic! popular villagers are sought after for a reason, and while it's always nice to see some love for less talked about villagers there's no shame in having a town full of tier 1s!

I don't really have a dreamie list, there's only four villagers I want to keep on my island forever: Teddy, Tutu, Rolf & Mitzi. I guess that's original except Mitzi's more on the popular end nowadays. But yeah don't worry about how original your taste is; like who you like!
completely unoriginal LOL my villager list looks more like a top 10 popularity list.. muffy and kid cat are my "least popular" considering everyone else i have is tier 1 or 2. i don't really mind though because i like them all and i'm not gonna get villagers i don't really care about for originality's sake
my list isn't original at all - but I love the popular ones for the same reasons everyone else does, they have really cool/cute/interesting designs and nice colour palettes.
Call me basic af but I don't regret questing for any of my dream villagers lol
I'd say my dreamies aren't the most popular/sought-after villagers aside from Kyle and Kabuki. Other than them, Genji, Chevre, and Muffy are semi-popular, but compared to other villagers of their personality types, not usually talked about a lot. Jacques, I haven't seen much love for him, but certainly not unpopular, same for Amelia and Lopez. I don't see anyone ever talking about Maddie or Wade, so they're my most unpopular villagers. Overall, it's a mixed bag in terms of popularity when it comes to my dreamies.
I'm really flexible with my plans. I'm actually more about saying "Oh, (s)he looks neat. I'll tell them to join my village." So my dreamies are mostly determined AFTER I find them.
For example, I don't know if I would have necessarily set out to find Sprinkle and Midge before hand (though I think they're both adorable) but actually finding them on an island was an instant "YES!" and something I don't regret. I don't understand why those villagers are so lower tier, but I honestly don't care. I love them.
The only villager I feel like I'm actively truly looking for is Pietro. And I feel like he has his fair share of both adoring fans and people who can't stand him.
Anyway, I don't care so much about what's popular as much as if I actually like the villager. It's difficult for me to pin down a dreamy list because there are so many villagers I would be happy to have.
