How often or easily do villagers use furniture you give them?

Fuschia was one of my starter villagers and I love her so much but my poor girl still has a sleeping bag in her house. How many beds should I give here to get rid of it? Lol.

Also tried to give Zucker a Kiddie pool for his house and he took it but didn't place it inside so now he has one in his side yard...

I can't contribute much YET but Cherry is one of my starters so she has the horrendous multicolour block furniture theme which I'm trying to get her to change.
My strategy is to try and gift her similar items to what she has, but in a different color at least.
So far she did replace her multicolour table by the wooden one I have her. I tried gifting her a bed today, I'll see how that goes...

I'd also like to know this or other peoples experience.
One time I gave Marina a pacifier and she said it wouldn't look good on her and the next thing I knew when I walked into her house she had 3 manniquine heads with pink pacifers in her house and I'm just like... oh no.. what have I done LOL xDD
