How often do you guys redo your island, as in a remodel, or completely wipe and restart your animal crossing game?
I have been working on remodeling my island.. it is expensive and time consuming.
One building to move a day
One bridge/incline to build/destroy per day
The cost of moving things around
How if you need to recenter, you have to move it to a completely different spot because of the whole land plot thing...
And then there is the items/trees/flowers to fuss with
Maybe I am just picky and feel the need to have things orderly or flow smoothly. I know there are all kinds of ways/styles to have your island layout.

What do you guys plan on doing if/when they add more buildings in an update?
And... do you have tips for these instances?
(I find cutting all the fruit trees down while making sure I have fruit stored away helpful)

A little off note.... I also wonder if the Earth Day update will allow us to have access to the 'other flowers we never see'

I think I'll eventually get to a point where themeing my island is all I'm really interested in, at which point, I'll just time travel to move buildings around quicker. Wouldn't bother me.

Right now though, I just do bits and pieces of it day by day. I don't want to get too crazy and make it impossible to place new buildings anywhere appropriate since it's pretty easy to imagine right now that new stuff is going to be added into the game over the next year or so...

Well, in New Leaf, I got to the point of restarting practically every month.

In New Horizons, I restarted twice within the first couple days because I came to the conclusion my 'base' island could be so much better, and I landed on something I'm happy about, well, minus native fruit but it is oranges so it's fine. It's not pears, at least.

I'm very close to being able to finally start terraforming. Literally just one final bridge to banish from existence and that's done tomorrow. After that, all I need to do is create a few axes to chop all the trees down. I also need to relocate a few flowers as well, but that will take little time to finish.

Planning on starting to terraform late Friday! The whole thing will likely take me over a month to complete, since I am aiming for absolute perfection, with the goal of showing it off on the forums. Because of this, I don't plan on restarting my island, mostly because I don't want to do so this time around and actually stick with my save file for longer than a few months.

As for updates adding in something new to add to your island, be it facilities or furniture pieces, I'm trying to plan ahead of time but if some extra modifications need to be done, I've made some small 'extra' plans to modify certain areas slightly to fit anything I might need to add in.

I'm genuinely going all in with this one.

Other than terraform, my island is and always will be that with which I started. I had my least favorite fruit, and an airport color I didn't want, but accepted the fate I was given.

i made a no time traveling rule, but I think I may break that the next time I decide to remodel....

I also have a no time-travelling (aside from the 1-month TT I did at the start of the game before progression began to get bedhead hair unlocked) rule and holy heck...

Having to relocate 3 facilities, 8 villager houses and demolish 2 inclines and bridges (which thankfully can be done at the same time as a relocation).. I was genuinely tempted to 'speed' it up a little. I held firm, though.

I have no current plans to remodel my island, aside from maybe moving around my shopping district if new buildings are introduce. As it stands, I'm satisfied with it since I included enough inclines and bridges to allow access from all parts of the island to other parts

I just know, if I knew what I know now, I would have approached this game differently lol! but it's ok. Most things can be fixed, I'll just have to take the extra time.

I feel like I’m starting to sound annoying whenever I respond along the lines of “I just take my time and have fun with it” lol
But it’s true so eh? *shrug*

I guess longterm, drawn-out gameplay really fits with my preferences. I set a small goal for each day (a section I’m working on for example) and then fill the rest of my time with dailies around the Island. I haven’t gotten bored yet, and it’s been rewarding seeing it slowly take shape.
(Another advantage is having enough time in-between to consider my next move)

As far as additional buildings later on go...that’d be both amazing and a bit annoying. I would’ve preferred to take them into account from the start, but definitely still want them added now rather than not at all.

I've never reset my island or town and I dont really plan on it. I get too attached lol

I don't find that statement annoying at all! Actually I see alot of posts mentioning how they feel like their island should look different because of all these fab islands on youtube.... which most are packed tile to tile with stuff. And they feel they need to fill it up some.
I think it is important to remember. Esp with the time and effort tearing things up and terraforming stuff.
I mean, my island feels pretty full with plants and paths.
