How much is too much?

So recently have been having storage issues, solved this before by selling off alot of stuff and making a secondary character. I am avoiding making a 3rd character so finally counted up my resources and am wondering if I've gone overboard, I have

my initial response was just that because i divided it by /30 and was shocked at what i saw, i thought it was a mistake lol. i'm always running out of wood, i doubt i've ever had 251 if i've added up all the wood i've gotten

yeah part of my routine used to be collect wood from 1/3 of my island every day

Yes, i think you have gone overboard long time ago.
I mean, collect whatever makes you happy. If having this much resources gives you joy, keep it going.

I pretty much just stopped collecting wood on the regular, all 3 characters of mine have some mats in their place just in case and if I'm trading for something, also great when I'm going to visit friends I can just grab and craft them gifts. Crafting stone axes became too much. I do collect stones etc. on the daily though. I think you're good, like someone else suggested you can always open a shop or something either to sell materials or to craft.

I understand hoarding materials that are time limited or rare. But woods/stone/clay/etc are all common materials!

I generally just keep 3-4 stacks of common materials at most. I'll go and farm some if I'm running low and really need some for whatever reason. That's it.

i think once you're finished decorating your island and craft all of the furniture you think you need, any extra materials become a little redundant so maybe sell them if you feel like you don't need the materials anymore

I'm damn near full, but my storage vice is Clothing. I have too much of it that I never wear. Doesn't help that my villagers keep giving me clothes.

I keep meaning to have a building day and build every recipe i haven't yet, then see how much i left over after that

That's an impressive amount of materials haha. You could definitely open a shop here, or sell quite a few stacks for NMTs or whatever you'd like on Nookazon. That amount of regular wood is pretty nuts.

For me, it’s too much after 1 stack of each. Once my materials reach more than one stack, I start selling.

Rocks and irons I tend to hoard, but not ok much. Maybe no more than 3-4 stacks.

That's a hefty chunk of resources there. I did farm those daily for the first two months until running out of space. (I sold most of them here at a loss.)

Nintendo should consider giving us more than 1600 storage.
