I have 6 towns because I had so many town ideas. I got most of them for real cheap, so I figured, why not? My sixth town was 4th of July themed, and it was really pretty, and had some unique areas, but I got tired of the colors and I was having a hard time decorating the houses, so I reset. Now it's Anne of Green Gables, Heidi, and Secret Garden themed. I like it much better.
I've gone through three- My first was Peachy and I had it for 2 weeks or so. I had 3 cat starters and loved my town and foolishly reset and can't even remember the reason why! Second was Holly and I had it for like a month. I got rid of it because something bad happened in my life and I couldn't keep playing because it reminded me of the bad times. Now I am back a few months later with Elm and love it and don't ever plan on resetting or restarting again.
I have reset three towns, but two of them were cycle towns. I reset Lawndale in order to create AHS, and I reset Ostara in order to lend/give the cartridge to a friend. The third that I reset was "Game of Thrones" themed, but I had only worked on it for about a week before I decided to postpone that idea in favor of another.
That leaves me with 4 towns: Ruddyoak (my main town), Goblin (my "Labyrinth" town), AHS (my "American Horror Story" town), and the 4th town is in progress, but on hold because I am finally going back to fix up Ruddyoak. I will never reset Ruddyoak, Goblin, or AHS.
I have 4 real town and plan on adding a 5th one. The only time I reset one was when it was a spare town at the time.
It was a new town and I wanted a different type of fruit. The mayor was still in a tent at the time. Moved the baskets of perfect fruit and than erased it.
I have only reset once due to a handful of my dreamies move out on me and not wanting to do the 16 villager cycle.
I also bought one other copy so that I can do another theme for both my mayor's house and my town. Plus I can have 10 more dreamies. C:
Sometimes I regret buying another copy cause one copy is a lot of work. But I then remember all the different themes and fun stuff I can do with another town so I feel a little better.
I've honestly lost track of how many times I've resetted. I can't even remember what my first town's name was. I think I've only accidentally resetted once.
four ever. My first town on gamecube, second town city folk. I started new leaf back in 2013 and played it for not even a month.... I recently started a a new town about a week ago and loving it.
I'm currently on my second town but the only reason that I restarted my other town in the first place was because it became corrupted and I didn't really have a choice.
My first was Latveria, which existed for the first few months after the release. I made a lot of mistakes with planning and such, so I eventually restarted.
My second town was Fishbowl. I loved that town. Then, my 3DS broke, and I was unable to perform a system transfer - since my ACNL is digital, Fishbowl was permanently lost to me.
My current town is Absalom. I started it on January 1st for the One Year Challenge, and it's still going strong. I have zero plans of resetting Absalom, ever.
I've only reset twice due to disliking everything about my town honestly.
I worked so hard on Twilight and love it, so I plan on keeping it. I am buying a second game card however to do a separate town, since I am attached to my current town and wouldn't want it gone.
A handful, not counting plot resets for randomly generated stuff. Whenever I get a video game I play it once to just mess around and figure out the controls, then restart to play it for real. I've restarted my main town a few times (keeping the name/mayor the same) but I plan on keeping the current version I have because I worked for over two years on my landscaping and I have a really good layout. I just recently got my second copy and haven't restarted it yet, and probably won't because I plan to play that copy in a more laid-back way than my main town.
I've reset twice on my NA copy. I've had 3 towns on there. The first one I got rid of after I learned I could transfer characters to another copy. So my second town I had for about 2 years, but then........... a certain villager ruined my town, so... I had to reset 'cause I was extremely upset about that incident. My current town is perfect so far, so I don't think I'll be resetting anymore. I got a second copy in Japanese for my birthday, and I'm now running two beautiful towns. c:
I've reset my share of towns in the past. I'm not sure how many exactly but probably around 10. Most of the time my reasons for resetting weren't very good at all. There wasn't really anything wrong with the towns I had, I just wanted something better and thought I could achieve it by starting over. Wanted the perfect map? and a town that looks perfect and was never happy with what I had. O well! I think I might have learned my lesson by now - the last time I reset was at the beginning of the year. My town certainly isn't perfect nor am I that happy with how it looks but by now I have realized that restarting won't help me one bit.
I'm sure other people have had better reasons to reset but that's why I've always done it.
