How many times have you "stolen" an item to use as a gift?

Yeah...so, today is Mac's birthday, and I completely forgot until last night. At which point, I opened the catalog to find a gift for him, but I had already ordered 5 things. Segue to this morning...I checked Nook's and Able's in hopes that something would be there. No luck. Next I set forth talking to villagers and hoping for a balloon from the heavens to drop a decent gift. No luck again. Finally, I realized that I had placed a red barbecue outside of Kid Cat's house. That barbecue has been there since Kid Cat moved to my island (he was one of my very first villagers, lol). So...yeah, I regret to admit that I stole Kid Cat's property outright and gave it to Mac as a birthday present. 😅

i.. have a bad tendency to re-gift the gifts i receive from my villagers. most of the time right in front of them too and then i wonder why most of them haven't given me their portraitists yet. it's not technically the same, but slightly?

i can't say that i've ever picked up a piece of furniture i've been using as one of their respective yard areas and regifted that, however. i got standards to my shadiness okay 😂

Haha I have definitely done this too! Especially when I’ve maxed out on what I can order from the catalogue.

I have never "stole" to use items as gifts, I would probably give something from my storage. lol. Never say never tho.

I usually give dumb clothes or pumpkins to my villagers as gifts lol. Since the whole neighborhood has a shared yard there isn’t much that I could “steal” to give as a gift...maybe I will give everyone a hay bed, though.

Only almost every single birthday I walk into 😂 I forgot about Raymond's birthday so I actually grabbed something from his yard and gifted it to him. He loved it so it worked out. Somehow I always forget about the birthdays!

I try to order items for my villagers when I know their birthday is coming up, but I did gift from my storage once or twice. Have never 'stolen' decorations from anyone to gift that, though.

What I do find funny is that I've been trying to help Hornsby make his house look normal (or at least, not like a garbage dump) and that involves giving him lots of furniture. He usually has a pile of yet-to-be-gifted stuff next to his house, yet he always acts surprised when I give something from said pile to him...

I’ve kept the lost items since they make great decorations 😊 but, since I only gift them coconuts (i used to gift them workbenches), don’t do delivery requests and one piece of clothing to some of my villagers (i do want to give them more clothing eventually, maybe), I haven’t done this myself.

I've done that for requests from amiibo campers to move them in if I know it's in one of my existing villager's yard. Lol 😅
I've definitely done that, sometimes it's quicker to grab what they want rather than go back to my house for materials and then have to craft it.

You keep lost items instead of giving them back to their owners? You monster! xD
No but in all seriousness, what exactly do you do with them for decoration? It seems like they'd look rather odd in places. I always thought that they looked out of place compared to the rest of the stuff on the island.

It depends on the item. The book items are especially good for if you want a closed book decoration, and I’m sure that the bag can be used for a shopping area.

I know, I know. XD I do feel extremely bad. I just love how they look. I’ve been using them since NL. The only thing I don’t like is that you can’t place them and that visitors can pick them up, which is why i tried to block the area by some of them.

In Dragon Age, codex pages are scattered all throughout the world and you collect them, so since my island is Dragon Age themed, I wanted to have journals lying out — especially here since this is based on a ruins in the game. if i had more room i would have used the scattered papers here (might remove the stuff in front of it so i can).

Red Templar camp. In all the games (as well as in WoW), there are sometimes quests to find a lost item and return it, so the lost item here is the ring and the journal pages are from the journal.

It's alright. He doesn't pay taxes. You've just come to collect.

Once or twice I think I gifted one of my villagers the same thing they gifted me, their dialogue is something like, "this looks familiar" xD
