Oh my gosh I was thinking of making this thread just yesterday X'D
I've reset my town twice, but the second time hardly lasted even a day because ALL of the villager houses were crammed into a little strip below the river and I decided I disliked the layout. X'D So I'm on my third town (been on it for awhile), but I plan to reset it soon as well.
I reset two towns prior to settling on my current town.
The first was only around for a couple of months after my release day purchase and it accumulated so many newbie mistakes that it was an embarrassment to play in.
The second was the town that I made together with my ex-fianc?. I deleted the town when he broke off our engagement, despite having 200+ played hours, because I didn't want a town that perpetually reminded me of him.
I've played my current town since last March, and I've really had fun. I have no intention of resetting this town!
Once. On the release day I chose one of the first four map options Rover gave me, but the next day I realised the town just didn't feel right to me. So I resetted for a layout I liked and have had that town ever since, and I still love it. Have luckily never felt the urge to reset.
Admittedly I reset at least three times my first two days. First time because I had my DS on the wrong time (oops). Still not 100% with what I have but no going back now!
Overall I reset twice, so that means three different towns -- but my current town is here to stay, since I love everything about it and has no problems with it at all.
The process of resetting itself, however, took me quitting the software and starting it again more than 150 times (according to my use charts on the 3ds)
Hm after i reset my first town i sorta had a resetting spree so im guess around 5-10 for that. Then I reset my second town so 1 for that. So about... 6-11 for my first copy. For my 2nd only once so far.
I think I've only reset about 4-5 times between my two copies. I had only one copy for a long time, and the only reason I reset on the second copy was because I failed the One Year Challenge and wanted to start over from scratch with a new town. Still have that one and it's turning out great. My other town has basically been abandoned, and I can't decide if I should turn it into a cycling town, or if I should reset it after I finish my other town.
Never reset but I've been thinking about it recently, I feel like I've peaked and the game is getting a little boring now but I'm really attached to my town, my houses and my villagers thinking about possibly investing in a second cartridge but then again I can't buy a new game every time I get bored!
0. Sometimes I think it would be nice to change the towns name or try and get a slightly better map, but the thought of starting all over again filling my catalog and encyclopedias stops that real fast. There's nothing terribly wrong with my map. By pure chance Re-Tail is pretty close to the dock and I was smart enough to build my house near Re-Tail, so no real deal breaking flaws in my map.
