How many reactions are there ingame?

The reactions you can learn from a villager are tied to their personality. If you are lacking a specific personality type in your town, you won't be seeing that reaction until you move one in.
For some of those reactions, you can only learn them from villagers you are best friends with. So even if you have every personality on your island, it might take a while until you see them all.

There are 44 reactions! It will fill up that entire inventory. Reactions unlock with different villager personalities and each personality has a special reaction that can be only unlocked if your friendship is high enough ^^
If you look up reactions, you can find the ones you’re missing. I didn’t go through yours but intuitively it seems like you may be missing a personality on your island?

I thought there were... What was it, 42 or something you need for the last achievement? Turns out, there are a few more you need really high friendship with certain personality villagers for or something. After I got the achievement I unlocked the love (with the heart above your head) reaction from Freya.
44 altogether and you will need all personalities and very high friendship with them. My mom has kept all of her original villagers and now has all reactions. She has all personalities and high friendship with them, so I can confirm that you need those.

there are only a handful that i use. some of them are really subtle and you never realize unless you look closely. If pay close attention each emotion has a different standing stance after you use em.

I agree, I always had all mine in alphabetical order in New Leaf. Sucks that you can't move them in this game.

You could arrange them and it wasn't like that tool ring that I never use because it's hard to select anything that isn't straight up, down, left or right.
