Moriyo Village- all four are filled
Treehut- I plan on sticking with my three, making only another to personality reset
Secret- so far I'm only planning two humans
Luminosa- same, only two humans. I really don't think Luminosa can for a third or even fourth in a good spot.

you have so many towns! do you log into each character everyday?
For me it depends on the town.
In Doremifa I've got two, and maybe it's because it's been that way for years, but it feels like the right amount to me. My town feels like it would be crowded with any more. (Even though I planned on having four at the start)
In Inkopolis I have four, and I moved all of them in at the start. Since I knew I wanted them all, I picked a layout with places for each of their houses, and the town still feels open.
I think it's really a matter of preference, but if you want it and you've got a spot for them, I'd say go for it! It'd definantly liven things up around town, and you can never have two many cute characters and houses.

I have two characters and I don't think I would want more than that. I created my alt because I had an idea for his house and his look. He was created purely for aesthetic purposes and I hardly ever play him at all. I spend all my time on my mayor and just hop on with him to do the basics, like checking his mail and using him for storage. If I had any more characters that I felt obligated to log onto regularly, I think it would become a chore for me.
I have ideas for a lot of other towns, but I don't plan on having more than one or two characters in any town I may create. But if you think you would enjoy having the extra character and have some idea of what you want to do with them, I say go for it. You can always delete them if it doesn't work out.

I have 4 in my town. My town has enough patterns/PWPs that I'm not really too worried about villagers plopping their house in a bad spot. Therefore, I don't need to keep a slot open for plot resetting. I think it's really nice to have so many rooms to decorate, and way more storage space for everything, including patterns. I think you should have as many characters as you want

Moriyo I only use Kasumi, Treehut I use Ginseng, but occasionally Yusha to develop her, Secret I use Ingrid and Luminosa I use Marisol, occasionally Verano to also develop her. I only wake up the alts if I'm giving them stuff, taking away stuff, decorating or I just feel like it.
I have 3 currently because of a small idea I had for each of their characters, I mainly play as my 2 female villagers because they're the ones I'm trying to get done with first, but the one male villager I have I hop on every so often to try to upgrade his home and to get him things for his house, and also to redecorate his house. I've been mostly playing my secondary character just because I've been working on her little cafe room a lot, so she's currently got the most play time with, but I need to try to play with my mayor more because I really need to try to get more pwps.

I have two right now since Fujimori is brand new, but I plan to have four. I've got ideas for how their houses will fit into my town (they will each be different village establishments). But I'm taking it slowly because I don't want to get overwhelmed working on their houses all at once. In fact, I probably would have waited to have my second villager move in for a bit, but I also wanted to unlock the QR sewing machine pretty quickly, as he's going to be the one that carries around most of my paths.

Two aside from my Mayor in Stardust, and I’ll have one more in Callisto; the towns were planned to have a few other characters from the start ^^
I have one and I've always had one. I've tried adding a new one in my old town but it's so much work... like having to go through the whole house thing again, and I always forgot to play as my second character so hearing the villagers talk about them was really annoying and I just got rid of them
