How many player profiles did you use?

I have heard of people making more players on their game so they can use their house for things like a library, cafe, club, some sort of store ect.
I was wondering how many have you made on your island for that kind of a purpose?
How many do you feel is "too many"?
Does it slow the game down?

I was considering this idea for the future, because it may make idea of a "main street" easier to do. And I think it may make my island "feel better" without using 10,000 panels to "build" buildings with and potentially* cause lag when the building gets filled with whatever. Give more room for land scaping and out door stuff.

I have only my main and second character. I originally made the second player for practical purposes (more/easier materials) but I did end up decorating that house too.

I haven't noticed it causing lag. I don't think it should, as far as I can tell the houses don't slow it down noticeably. I'd just go for it, if I were you. You can always delete the player/house off your island if you end up not liking it. ;)

i only use one character, but i've added 2 profiles and side characters to my switch. they're not going to stay here forever, they're just to pick up halloween recipes and candy since my sisters are getting acnh and switches too close to halloween to be able to celebrate it in a nicely decorated fashion.

i haven't noticed any lag from their buildings, and both of their tents are in an area where there's 5 buildings total and 3 close by. in fact, i've only ever noticed lag when there's just a bunch of furniture in one place. on the other side of my island, i have a ginormous group of more than 100 fish tanks put out for when CJ visits. i've also visited dream addresses that had a lot of furniture in one place (not just fish tanks) that caused lag as well. i think it's important to note that i've only ever played in conditions like these in handheld mode, though, so docked switches may or may not experience lag while near lots of furniture. so, if you're worried about lag, i think the amount of furniture u have in one place would be the biggest thing to keep in mind.

I only have one alternate character, using my S/O's actual Nintendo profile so that we can both live on the island -- his island also has an alternate character designed after me for the same purpose.

Two characters is enough for me, as I don't like the idea of creating dummy accounts out of personal preference. Any more would also take away from valuable land that could go towards villager yards or public spaces. I ended up designing both houses for fun without any real thematic intent.

I have not noticed any lag near any of the resident houses. You can always boot the alternate character(s) off the island if you end up not using them.

Specifically for that kind of a purpose? Just one, after someone gave me June's poster and I had the idea to make a tourist information kind of house next to my airport. Now it's going to be a tourist information, gift shop, café, record store, train station, and whatever I end up doing with the back room, all in one house. (Fun fact: It was really hard to come up with a character that didn't feel so "real" that they needed an actual house. I couldn't do more than one of these.)

I have a total of five profiles though - the main, the tourist person, and three of my OCs because I love them and wanted to give them houses. Originally I had only two planned, but then I discovered Celeste's star furniture and had to make the third one too.

I have two. I created the second to hit up Gulliver, Gullivarr, Redd, Flick, CJ, and Pascal twice. Turns out, adding a second fixed my symmetry issues, too.

I have two alt accounts right now. I originally wasn’t going to have any because I wanted to save as much space as possible for decorating, but I caved in because I need more storage space and I wanted to decorate their houses. I ended up moving one (eventually one more) of my main’s designs into one of the houses and I put the house on my ship; it looks really good on it :). I am actually debating about making one more kinda next to my tavern since in the anime that I loosely based my edited version on (since I am redoing it from when it was solely a Dragon Age Inquisition inspired design), there was another building next to it and I was thinking maybe decorating it like a store.

I currently only have two players (my main and a second player) I originally created the second player for my SO so they could play too, but life got busy and that never happened so now it’s my extra storage space character. Debating on whether I would ever need a third player for more storage, but for now two is more than enough.. until hoarding gets the best of me again!

I just made a second character 2? days ago, as I need more storage :[ I also just wanted another thing to grind for/do, like decorating a house, getting recipes, achievements etc. I was really against it as I liked just having my main doing everything, but I'm desperate for storaaage!! I also had a second character in new leaf, so seems fitting I have 2 in this game as well.. sadly this one doesnt also give me more design slots LOOOOL.. but still useful 🥳

On my main island, All. 8. 😭 They're not all fully upgraded, though! Only 3 of them are! (I don't have a problem ba-baka)
I started out with one extra for Celeste in April. I purposely made him with as goofy as a face as I could manage and it became really endearing to me. Now I can't get rid of him! 🥴
Then in June, I started seriously decorating with a theme in mind and I had planned about 2 extra houses for it, while re-purposing the side character's interior to make 4 humans total.
And then I got an idea I couldn't resist for #5.
I made a mock-up of an outdoor area in Harvey's Island and it took up way too much space when I went to do it for real. Time for #6!
After that, I was happy with my 6 but then inspiration struck again and....there's #7 and #8. Oof.
The whole time I was concerned squishing the animal villagers on the map but after #7 I gave up and it's the gross 8:10 ratio. My Nookphone map is hideous but I'm past the point of no return 😤

Regarding frame rate and slowdown? I think it's helped my island 100fold to have a bunch of 3x5 buildings with self-contained loading screens rather than large, sprawling outdoor masses that would have inevitably caused lag and overall less room to walk around.
Storage is also a bonus. I keep rare items in one extra house and all the CJ/Flick models in another as I'm commissioning them all.
It's a great idea if you don't mind the obvious downsides of having multiple accounts (if you're the only one on the Switch).
(Yes, having all my villagers asking me about preferences can stink at times, but without extras, I would have never discovered one of my favourite lazy dialogues: "RAAWR! It's a kaiju cowboy!"😆)

What are the down sides to multiple accounts on one switch?

I have 4 characters myself because I love my OCs and decorating for them. I'm tempted to make a 5th but I don't really have room for them.

My wife also has one character. Luckily a lot of islanders have beachfront property so there's still plenty of space for decorating.

What are the down sides to multiple accounts on one switch?
-The home page on your Switch will be cluttered with eight accounts. Every time you open up something, it'll ask you which of your eight users is going to be opening it. :cautious:
You can avoid this by deleting the users off your Switch. It still keeps their houses in ACNH, but they'll be locked from usage until you make another account to control them with.
-You're not going to be able to use any internet functions with extra characters, like the Able Sisters kiosk or dreaming. I'd hope someone wouldn't get a NSO membership for themselves and seven mule accounts! 😮
-Your villagers will ask you about them on basically a daily basis. Such as "Zum, do you know what Haus is really good at?" or "Zum, do you know that Haus likes vegetable juice?" It can be annoying but that's where the 'kaiju cowboy' line comes from 🤠
-The more accounts you have, the more humans will end up on your map. If you're one for map aesthetics, I'd say the best arrangement past 2 humans is 5, because it ends up as 3 rows of 5.
*sniff* I miss that symmetry.
-If you're not committed to designing the users themselves, they'll be stuck wandering around the dream version of your island saying 'Welcome!' to visitors en masse. I uploaded a WIP dream to test-run on my secondary island and I had unfinished accounts doing that 😣
Now they all have personalised passports! Woohoo!

Hope that helps! 👍

I have two, mainly because my house ran out of storage. So, I made one for my 1 year old son lol. And his character looks JUST LIKE HIM, it's crazy lol.
