How many people can move in on one day?

So 3 people are moving onto my island tomorrow-
Chester
Flora
Kitt
I kinda wanted to get other villagers from the forums into my village by swapping for nook miles tickets however I’m not sure whether it will work or whether they’ll just not appear so does anyone know how many people can move in on one day
