I have one, which is me (Mayor Madison). I don't plan on getting another character, since it'll take twice as long to finish everything. At least, for my routine! I know more characters can help with mortgages and such, but I don't like wasting my time on doing it. I like the feature, though, because if you have a sibling that doesn't mind they can always have a file on the same game instead of having to pick up a completely new one!
I usually make more than one character, but I just worry about a second house taking up space for pwps. There's a spot one of my villagers is in right now I might consider making a second house, but I just don't know.
My Mayor is based on the alias I have Then I made a girl with my real name and a boy with my bf's name. I am using them mainly for specific storage and to have themed layouts (I am very picky about my actual Mayor's house). My girl will only wearables and the boy will store furniture!
I found a great village with the DreamSuite, its a Japanese village and I think some players call it Lion Town because the player has all the lion villagers, but the player had used one of their houses to make a restaurant and another a school and it made it feel more like a productive, thriving village.
Because I really liked the idea I'm going to do the same for my own village with my additional characters' houses. Also it'll make it more of a challenge with collecting the pieces to pull it off.
I used to love making different characters in Wild World and City Folk, but I have come to realize how difficult it can be keeping up with so many different characters while maintaining my mayoral responsibilities. As of right now, I am sticking with Mayor Mist because my top priority is building up my town. Maybe a few months down the road, I'll reconsider and make a second character.
I have 2 in my "Game Card" version and just 1 in my "downloaded" version. I will probably stick with just these 3. In my main game of RedDwarf I have my character and a girl character, mostly for storage, but also to use to model girl clothes when I start making them, and to also do "cute" themes and house exteriers.
In my downloaded game I just have the one, and he is a true 'evil' mayor its also the town where I take all the trash from my primary town and I will eventually experiment in it.
One will be my second character who will stay in a tent and live in the forest/campgrounds. Won't play as him as much.
I will leave the fourth slot open for the reset neighbor trick. I just can't have icky neighbors moving into spots that get in my way. I already have Truffles being ugly in my town.
It seems like it'd be really difficult making a town plan, perfecting your town, and still having room for all four houses for your mayor and the three extra player characters! But I did make a mule character just today. I plan on having him and only him as far as extras go, but we'll see how long it takes to get bored of making his house just so, filling up his storage and basement, and then just piddling around on his save file as well as my main's. I've already gotten kind of bored with just playing as myself... I'm really difficult to keep interested in games. lol!
I was going to do all four but I like having only one.
It'd be nice to have the extra storage, but with six rooms in my house and the four rooms in the museum I have plenty of space for decorating. It'd be nice to buy all four paintings/statues from Redd when he visits to finish that section of the museum more quickly, but eh, I'll get there eventually. Same with getting K.K. Slider songs. And getting Katrina to open her shop on main street (I might do the make-a-character-get-a-fortune-told-then-delete-the-character trick next time she visits though, to free up her slot for other weekly visitors).
With all the public works projects to build I don't really want to fill up town space with more houses. Besides, I kind of like doing everything "by myself."
