I have the 3DS XL NES edition fairly new from October 20th (That's when I bought it and that's also my B-day!) I'm also using the charger it came with. So I plugged it in a few minutes ago and I'm wondering how long it would take to charge at full bars. Can anyone help? (Also I have to leave at ten so how much would 2 hours get me bars wise?)

Normally, it takes 3 hours and half to fully charge your 3DS XL. After that, the orange LED would turn off. You would typically get 1 or 2 bars when you charge it for just two hours.

I get a full charge pretty damn quick. Probably after leaving it plugged in for an hour it's back up at full again for me.

Pretty much going to say what they're saying. The battery life itself will last you if you're pretty busy throughout the day and only playing off and on.

My 3DS completely died for me on Thursday night. Charged it for half an hour Friday morning and it got up to 3 bars. So pretty quick. Mine is the AC special edition, so it's almost 2 years old.

I only ever really leave my XL on charge for around an hour until I notice that it's fully charged.

That's a estimate though.

I also never let it fully run out, I stop playing/start looking for a save point when the 'battery low' light comes on and stop playing once I have. I've never let it run out completely.

I'm in the habit of doing this as well. Maybe this is why it only takes some of us about an hour to get back to full charge when other people say they have to wait three or four hours...?

Maybe. I don't know how much battery is actually left at this point though, it could be like 15 minutes or another hour for all I know. I only do it from the assumption I don't have that long left and don't want to be half way through something and it cutting out, like, they've literally only given me roughly enough time to find a save point in the first place.

If there's such a big difference with answers though, I'm kind of wondering how long it has left when the light comes on...It must be a significant amount to add another 1 or 2 hours to the charge time.

I can't remember the source but for the 3ds at least (not an XL, but I'm assuming the system for the lights works the same if not in a similar way) when the orange battery life came on you have 1hr left. Then after that it goes red for a bit before it starts yelling at you and flashing the red light then it's like o **** you better save else ur dead.

So unless you are playing a game where you can only save at certain points letting it run down to red and even flashing red (but b careful!!) as it will marginally extend your battery life but tbh it doesn't really effect it too much so don't worry if you don't

I know that others have already stated this, but for me, on my ACNL 3DS XL, it takes about three to three and a half hours to fully charge. I'm not sure how long it would take for the "New" 3DS, but my original 3DS takes about that long to charge as well. It would be nice if they charged faster, but personally, I'm fine with how long it takes them to fully charge.
