How long does it take you to write papers for school?

I only ask because usually 1-3 page summarys or reflections or reviews only take me an hour or so, but I just wrote a 16 page literature review for a masters course I'm in and in total it probably took me around 12 or so hours to complete. It was the most intense paper I've had to write so far in all of my schooling.

How long does it take you? How long was your longest paper?

For a 5-8 research paper, around 5 hours. I usually do research while I'm writing, so it stalls me pretty badly. I'm also really crap at in-text citations, which most of my classes require me to have, so that stalls me even further.

Yeah same. For this one I did research while writing, and synthesizing research too which takes even longer. I have like 20 + references.

I can get out a 4-6 page paper in about an hour. I'm really good at writing papers for whatever reason.

Yeah I did like 2 hours a week ago and then I worked from 9:30 am until about 7 pm tonight with just one 15 minute break for lunch haha. No tv no noise...just my thoughts, the school database, word, and misery. I feel more motivated to do well when I'm pressured. I can endure it.

not too much, probably 2 hours at most if it's like 12 pages. i type fast, and i usually already have an outline so I just copy from that and go quickly. i also enjoy typing up papers, i know crazy right, so i go a lot faster.

Haha I hear you. I did have an outline for the structure of the lit review and I met the requirements and was under the percentage he wanted for the plagarism chek thing on turnitin, but it took a while because I researched while I was typing. 20 + sources plus synthesizing some of the research took a bit.

i can write a 500 word paper in about an hour if i'm motivated to (aka when i'm writing it the night before it's due)

i haven't had to write many lengthy papers, but one of the longest papers i've had to write was about five pages and it took a couple hours to write because wow procrastination

Research papers are boring cause you are basically copying and pasting facts from the internet. Stories are the best for me. I remember I was in a creative writing class and we were supposed to write a story in 2-3 pages. Mine ended up being 8. RIP.

Well yeah, if it was just a reflection of my experiences and opinions I could crank out a book lol. But this was all research since the class is Ed Research haha. It's terrible.

Dittoing this. I'm a graduate now (probably wondering why I bothered replying, huh?) but when I was still in high school, I could write up a paper in an hour or less (depending, sometimes it took me over 2 hours.) I enjoyed writing, and still do, so it was fun for me to be able to do something I absolutely loved, and turn it into a masterpiece that usually scored me some really nice grades.

Honestly, it depends on the topic. It will take me forever to write about ancient Greek inventions, but I can probably write a 700 word essay about educational standards in one or two hours.

It depends on the topic. I haven't written a research paper since college, but I have written proposals for grants and that usually takes me at least 6 hours to make sure everything is right lol. I also get very easily distracted or I tend to fluff them up too much so there's a lot of going back and editing the redundant stuff out. In college I used to postpone or procrastinate on topics I was really well-versed in and just whip it out really quickly in a few hours before it was due... but because I did it so quickly I would lose a lot of points on grammar lol.

Not super long, I am an ace at writing essays and papers. Basically I write an outline, each paragraph I need gets 4-5 bullet points, each point turns into a sentence and then I'm basically done. Ever since I found that out I became the procrastinating queen. Wrote a paper in class once when it was due that day.
