I think I'm getting too obsessed with having my 10 dreamies and I don't want my game to get too stagnant
So I decided I'm gonna keep a spot open just for campers and just invite whoever shows up. then I'll try to get the pics and then make room for a new one. hooray for new friends.

how long does it usually take you to get top level friendship with a villager?

Most of the time when I get pictures, they're from April Fools. The last time I got a picture without April Fools was when I got Clay's picture, and he sent it to me in the mail when he moved away.
The longest it took for me was about two months+ maybe? I don't exactly remember but I know it was longer than a month because it was the very first picture I got after Valentines and I had started December of the following year. I was really surprised too and that's why I started to collect pics from villagers I've have/had in my town.
I like your idea, it was what I had done in the beginning too. It's also a great way to meet villagers you never get to normally see on the forums. Good luck getting all the pics, it'll take forever but at least you'll have a goal to reach.
It really varies for me. It took me juts over a month to get some villagers pictures, but then Aurora has been in my town for 10 months and I still haven't received hers :'( I send her letters everyday, and fulfill all her requests and talk to her heaps!!
The longest it took for me was a year and a half. Granted, I took a ten month break in there but Shep still just really didn't want to give me his pic. I surprisingly got two when he moved out recently. The shortest was probably Marina, she gave me hers within weeks of moving in.
Usually 1? to 3 months. I just got Marshal's picture the other day, and he's been in town for a long time. For some reason, I thought I already had it. I keep some pictures in my house and the others are in storage. I was looking though my pictures and realized his wasn't there. So I went out of my way to be extra nice to him for a couple of weeks and it finally paid off. LOL. He gave me a picture after I gave him a perfect pear to eat. I put it in my bedroom.
I got this game june last year and I finally got a pic of Merengue yesterday! She lived in my town since the start and I've been doing everything for her. I can't wait for the april fools day, so I can get pics easier, phew.
