How long do you hold on to your favorite villagers?

I never really thought about letting some of my favorite villagers ago until Merengue up and left me. Now I've been letting a lot of my treasured villagers move out so I can experience some new blood. Muffy, Tangy, and Static were the latest to leave to be "replaced" by Tammy, Benjamin, and Rhonda. Lolly will be next; I love that little lady but she's going to a very excited friend of mine so I'm happy. I'm actually considering letting go of my all time favorite villager Walker (Little Prince!). I've had him since I first started my town and I love him to death, but maybe it's time to let him go as well. I'll have Benjamin and he's just as adorable. But then I'm worried I'll regret letting my little pup go since he's my favorite little guy. :/

I know some people want to permanently keep the same villagers and I know some people love to change it up. I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. How long do you hold on to your villagers before letting them go? Or, do you want to keep the same villagers since you adore them so much? I was just curious. :)

I plan to keep all my villagers unless something expected comes up as for example they are suddenly in boxes, or one of my friends has one of my dreamies they wish to give up. I understand what you mean. I let one of my beloved villagers go not too long ago, however I did reject it. But it did give me a more open mind to what other villagers I would like, along with letting more villagers go. It happens once you hold on to something for too long, you don't want to give it up and can't imagine letting it go. It closes you mind to what new possibilities you would like to do.

I keep the ones I love my main town though was original ten for a year and then I wanted fresh so I let some go for space for dreams, but once I get the ones I really can't tire of they don't go..after a while though some do get boring so I get it. I let a lot of originals go recently well for never having let them in that town. I'm still getting used to the feel.

I try to mix up my villagers most of the time. Except I have gotten a bunch of villagers that I love and I find myself not being able to let go like Beau was a starter of mine and I still have him after all this time and I got Pietro a while back, I would never want him to leave. I always try to have like 3 or 4 villagers that I can move out and change around if I want too that way I still have villagers that I love but I also have room to explore the different villagers the game has to offer.

I let them stay in my town until I begin to get annoyed with them. That process is usually after I've seen the same villager so many times, I know where they are most likely to be. It's usually about 5 - 6 months, though...

Punchy and Cheri will be with me until the game dies or I do, whichever happens first

Depends on the villager. For me, there are a few that I just can't bring myself to say farewell to. I lost two of my favorites, and whilst I don't miss them like I thought I would, I don't really want to lose the other favorites I have.

Having said that, there's only 4 in my town that I'm keeping. I still love my other villagers too, but I'll likely say goodbye to once I have their pics, since I enjoy seeing new villagers :)

Forever.

Unless I do something stupid by accident, no one gets to leave, muhaha. Except Tex.

I'm keeping everyone, but I might move Felicity out eventually when I want to change the overall look of the town.

FOREVER.

They can't leave me. I don't even have them all yet.

I'm not letting them go.

I need them for my theme, plus I spent a lot of time choosing villagers to suit both my theme and my own preferences. So I'm attached.

It's hard enough letting go of my originals, who I adored, to get my themed guys. I let Eunice and Canberra go, and they were awesome. I don't even like walking by the plots where Bertha and Filbert used to be... So if I let them go to get my new baes, they are now worth even more to me. Does that even make sense?

I've had 3 villagers move out so far when I started this game in August 2013. Its so hard to let go of your villagers.. T_T I just focus on buying nice furniture and DLCs to keep myself entertained. lol. Getting new villagers is fun too but I'd rather stick with my original ones.

I usually just let them leave... Unless I love them too much! But... I will get bored of them and get new people!

never unless they leave due to my mistake

i recently reset bc 3 dreamies left due to my TT mistakes or I wasn't able to play. tbh it feels a lot nicer now being able to start over, I'm picking "new" dreamies or those I like but still kept a lot of original ones (in my very first town).

I don't mind having to let some go bc i usually have a back up :) (i.e. cyrano and fang)
