I thought this game had no more online/ friend sharing components, but I keep getting stuff like this?

Also, some of my other friends are somehow able to give gifts, furniture, etc. How?

It’s just the game filling those slots and assigning one of your friends to it randomly

Each day, one friend avatar in Whistlestop Pass is programmed to give you a collection of gifts, including friend powder. These are also just the game doing it

I see! Thanks so much for the info. I was hoping Nintendo had snuck some friend capabilities in there, but this is good to know.
