This is not so much about the update so it doesn't belong there it is more about now that it has been a while what do you like about it or not, how has it affected the way you play. Did it make you start a new town. How did it change how you enjoy your game or make it more fun or if not why. It is really an open question for people to share how the update has made the game better or if fervently played or whatever it is. Again this is not about the update itself it is about your experience playing New Leaf now versus before and your way of playing and towns and other changes of game play since it. I hope this will turn into a place where people can share their post update acnl game experience and even if it brought you more into playing again or not. It is more an open opinion sharing then an exact question but I am interested to know for you all even if it didn't at all but likely it did. Again about your game, towns, and not update type questions or observes that would be under discussion of that this is about your play and game or villages and style since it.

It's given me more to do on my daily tasks lists each day, because of the initiatives, the new campsite to check, and the ability to 'make a wish' with Wisp!

Before, I could get away with checking to see if villagers were moving, maybe checking the shops (there's only so much that interests me in the 'regular' shops these days, though), and digging up the daily fossils.

But now, with four characters each with a list of initiatives, the daily play time can be increased quite a bit if I'm motivated! Fishing, looking for bees, going to the island, and in general doing things that I would have not done otherwise. As well as having a whole new area to check for items, and to use Wisp for the day! But at the same time, these activities aren't, like, essential, so if I'm too busy or don't feel like it, I don't have to. So it's a nice balance of having more stuff to do, but not being required to~

I like that you talk about spare characters in my towns with Alts I see I use them more for than just storage, old days, now and do their Initiatives so I agree that is a cool aspect plus you can ignore the ones you don't want to do or too much trouble and the alt may have others to make meow coupons with for items. Thanks for sharing. I agree in old complete towns just checking the shops for anything not in my catalogue talking out each character and all that was getting stale. It has inspired me also to make a new town fresh not delete my old but do one starting from the updated way maybe others have too likely some.

I always wished my Farm town had all farm villagers. I was able to do that fairly easy, and without messing up my town with villagers plotting in bad spots.

My towns stayed the same, but some of the rooms got some new furniture added to them. A couple of them got complete makeovers.

More to check - I like seeing who I may have in the RV camp ground. I love the extra storage, I'm far more organised and more relaxed over keeping items. I like the HHD way of moving furniture around in the room, available in the museum rooms as well - for the first time I've actually played around with my rooms (not that much as I'm into feng shui).

I have to be more careful about what I do when - I used to power up on the first play of the day & do the fossils/buy stuff etc usually with the Mayor. I now try to check all characters first to see what their initiatives are, been caught out in past by say, buying the candy/assessing fossils etc with the 'wrong' character.

Not brought any amiibo card villagers into my towns - as yet, disturb over the 'not leaving as easily' problem that seems to be the case.

Basically its made me more careful over some things and made other features easier.
Edit: never considered deleting towns & starting anew, too much time investment in them to want to do that.

More "dailies" were added to my chore list, like checking the initiatives and the campgrounds, but other than that not much changed. I did sell my first town to start fresh though :) I don't have amiibo cards so villager move-ins haven't changed for me.

Well, my all-bunny town hasn't really changed, since it was already completed. But I sold my original town, been doing more "dailies", with the RV campground and the initiatives. I'm also taking full advantage of being able to somewhat control where villager plots go with QR codes.

I think it's given me lots of new opportunities, but I only consider it an improvement because the update released after I already had one complete town.

For me, I think a crucial part of the Animal Crossing experience is NOT being able to control everything. Taking PWP requests as they come, paying off your home loan over months on island visits, and getting to know villagers as they enter your town rather than preselecting the most popular ones and forcing everyone else to move. I'm really glad that I had that full experience before the update released.

However, I have several ideas for towns, and plenty of villagers I want to meet. I'd never be able to manage spending another two years per town, nor would I want to make thet kind of commitment. Since I had the "main" experience already, it's fun to create other towns as sandbox towns, where I can play with theme and landscaping without having to repeat the hours and hours and hours of grinding for bells or the months of waiting for a villager to move. Feels like the update came at the perfect time for me - it didn't ruin the original intended experience, and now it allows the experience to adapt to make future towns more playable.

Tbh, my NL experience hasn't really changed too much. If anything, this update has helped me obtain items I've needed via villager RVs at the campground, helped me with plot resetting, and saved me time in finding replacement villagers for those who've moved out. (:

One thing that's changed is that I so far haven't bothered with permanent secondary characters. It only takes a few minutes to make a new character, and it's incredibly easy to get that character 15 MEOW coupons in that short time. So now I'll get MEOW coupons, order stuff with them, wait to receive the ordered items the next day, drop the items on the ground for my mayor, and then delete the character. Rinse and repeat.

Because you can only use the Wisp scan 1 time per day per town, constantly making new characters is a far quicker way to get MEOWs than individually grinding them out.

I'll have permanent secondary characters at some point. I'll want them for more storage space, more QR space, and more rooms to decorate. But right now, I am on a WA item collecting quest, so getting MEOWs quicker is more beneficial.
