How hard is it to earn 3 stars in the island rating?

It's for the k.k project and Isabelle says that I need more villagers and that I'm currently at 1 star :I. Any advice from those who'd already achieved this? I have 5 villagers already.

It wouldn’t say it very hard. I think some people overthink there is no set requirements despite what online guides say. From I have seen so far you’ll need at least 8 villagers then it the unknown people have done with different combinations of flowers, fences(it did it without any but some people did it with it), inclines and bridges alway help(varies how many people had) then place furniture outside(I did with it 10–15 piece some have done with more or less). Just keep improving your island over few days then you’ll probably get it

Not at all if you play normally and do the nook miles plus things from way back, meaning you’ve had planted a lot of flowers and trees by then. Also, if you’ve decorated somewhat. I got the rating without even trying. I went to Isabelle so I could start working on achieving it but it’s already 3 star. Granted, I had an island complete of 10 residents and one bridge at that time too so that could be a big factor.

Sweet! Hopefully I'll get it done in a week or so, though I haven't found any villagers on those nook mile islands, I wonder if the campsite has affected the chances :S

I think the biggest factor is easily the inclines/bridges. I decorated my entire island with DIY projects, but it was only 1 star. Then, I slowly started adding bridges/inclines, and that alone bumped it up to 3 stars eventually.

Not that DIYs don't contribute, I just think that to hit 2 stars, you need to have X amount of DIYs AND X amount of inclines/bridges. Or something like that.

I went from one to three stars quickly once I had a bridge / incline and 8-9 villagers.

It also helps to have a decent amount of furniture placed around town (e.g.: Nook Miles PWPs, actual furniture), trees, and flowers. I had a few loose items scattered about with my Bunny Day shenanigans which dropped my rating to two. It stabilized once I picked it all up. If you know you have a few things laying around, put them in your storage instead. :)

Do you mean you aren’t finding ANY or that you’re not finding ones you like? If you’re not finding ANY at all, make sure you have open plots of land. Talk to Nook about selling land and set them up :)

I don't think 3 stars is that bad but 5 is killing me right now

My rivers are awkwardly shaped so at the moment I only have one bridge, I just pole vault everywhere. I was hoping to adjust the rivers slightly so I could add bridges, but I hear that you need 3 stars on your island to unlock that feature. I'll just plant flowers everywhere see where that goes :)

Ah I fixed the issue, I thought I could have them move in then plot their land like earlier in the game, but I had to have pre-plot land ready for them. After I did that they are spawning on the nook island again . I've got Buzz moving in tomorrow. He looks so tilted all the time, love it!

Does regular furniture count? At the moment I'm decorating my campsite on the beach. Going for a tropical vacation vibe. Hopefully that will go towards the rating. Does this look okay?

My town is littered with stacks of rocks, sticks ect. It's so convenient to just drop everything especially the crazy amount of eggs :S
