How get screenshots off the DS and make animated gifs?

Hey folks! I can't seem to figure out how to get screenshots off my DS well. Their app for it doesn't seem to work for me? How are people getting screenshots easily off their DS?
And I know some people have taken animated gifs? how do you even do this? Just take a lot of successive screenshots and hope you get a good cycle?

Screenshots? L + R buttons to take a screenshot... gifs? I'm not sure.​

To take out 3DS screenshots, you can just take out your SD card to import them ^^ But I believe you can do it via browser maybe?​

GIFs you can make in GIMP (similar to Photoshop and also free) by making each screenshot a new layer, then setting the timing of the layers to a certain speed and then saving it as a .gif file.
There's probably plenty of tutorials that explain it better but it's actually real simple once you've got the hang of it.

To make them flow nicer you just need to take screenshot after screenshot so it flows nicely and doesn't look choppy, then add them all together.
