How faraway to villager houses have to be?

I'm plot resetting Frita and I want her house to be 2 squares away from merengue but she won't come near it! Am I doing something wrong is that to close?

I have been doing this for 2 hours xD
And I had a villager there at the same exact place! That's what's bothering me so bad but I have no idea what the limit is

I've had villagers move in two squares near another villager's house, actually many times. So it is possible.

I also just found a old picture with a old villager of mine there I guess she is just being frustrating

Was this villager a starting one? Sometimes, the villagers who already live in your town live in areas that end up being blatantly impossible for other villagers to move into. I do think that 2 squares is enough space, though. Are there any ponds or rocks nearby?

I have Zucker living 1 space in between a holding pond and then Marina on the other side even with him with 2 spaces in between, it's possible, but keep in mind it's random. So basically you must get lucky. :3

Poppy lives next to Marshal in my town, and only about 2 squares away. And she was plot-resetted, not random.

No he was not a started nothing has changed since then Frita will have 2 spaces to merengue house and 2 spaces from the river exactly where Rudy used to live
