How does one run a catalogue party?

Before I welcome guests onto my island, for the purpose of cataloguing items (like furniture), how does one do this?

Is Discord a must?

Is it difficult to set up?

some ppl setup thread under subgroup nooks cranny or Dodo business class. A thread with listed rules and a order form for ppl to fill out.

Discord is not required.
