I just have two questions about asking a villager to move to my island. If a friend of mine has a villager in boxes that I'd like on my island, can I ask that villager to move even if I don't have any open plots? And I thought that there had been some bugs with villagers forced out with amiibos... if they use an amiibo to force that villager out, is it still glitched? Thanks for any help or pointers!

you need an open plot to ask villagers to move in, yes. as far as the amiibo glitch- i've hears some say it was fixed and i've heard others say it wasn't. i'm pretty sure it was, but even if it glitches there are ways to fix it- there should be some threads about it here.

If you're adopting a villager from a friend, then you have to have an open plot.

There was a bug involving adopting villagers forced out by Amiibo. It was patched, but unfortunately, the patch resulted in an even worse glitch that affects all villager adoptions. Here is a document about the issue. It's a bit out-of-date and contains some possibly inaccurate stuff (for example, the theories about clearing the void by passing in-game time aren't definite), but that's the gist of it.

u need an open plot before inviting unless its from campsite, in which its random who they kick.

right now, i seriously do not recommend trading esp from amiibos. i forgot which patch it was but it isn't sure if the amiibo glitch is still there because even NORMAL non-amiibo transactions are getting glitched out.
