I'm curious how people go about choosing the villagers that stay in their town? For me, I must have one of each personality even though all of the normal villagers are adorable. I think it would feel stale not mixing in other personalities.

I chose my dreamies on their looks honestly. haha. I really really loved how the deer villagers looked and because there are 10 of them, I decided I wanted all of them. I don't really mind when you don't have all the different kinds of personalities, but I can imagine that people want this.

I just take whomever's moving in; I think that's part of the fun. ;D

But I would let some go and make some stay depending on how much I liked them.

Usually I'll make a list of about 30-40 animals that sort of match the look and feel of the town I'm working on. Then I just plot reset and keep the first 10 I can find that land in a good spot.

In Wayfield I wanted a small town feel, so I wanted animals that were cute, but pretty average looking. In Yorkwood I wanted spooky looking animals to match the Halloween theme. At first in Maplerow I just kept the first 10 villagers I got because I didn't know about plot resetting or adopting when the game first came out. I just recently moved them all out and replaced them with bears.

I like to have cute villagers with varied personalities or villagers I've had and liked in the past. I've also recently been trying to decide on villagers based on their house exteriors which might be a little strange but yeah :p

I try to have one of each personality so I can get more varied dialogue.

Other than that, it's random how I choose them. Some of them have been random move-ins that I've loved. Others are villagers I've seen in the campsite, when visiting friends or DAs, or when looking at pictures of the game. There have also been a few I've wanted just from looking at a list of villagers but in my experience, even when we do that, it's always a good idea to try to see what they look like in the game.

I have some that I think would fit the general mood of my town, but for the most part, I just pick villagers that seem cute or interesting to me, or which I think would match my other villagers. I'm not that picky because there's a big list of villagers that I'd love to have (especially if I could have more than 10)! I don't have a set list of 10 dreamies that never changes.

I like a variety in species and personality, and tier. Every now and again I'll see villagers in dream towns that I really like, and add them to my 'would like to meet one day' list, as I keep two slots in my town open for new faces to come and go :)

I pick villagers that I think look cool. Bonus points if they are cranky. I really like the voice for the cranky villagers.

I pick based on a combination of the PWPs they can request because of their personalities and their looks. It doesn't bother me if I don't have all the villager personalities, because I don't particularly care for the PWPs that they offer.

I just let random villagers move in, I haven't sold or bought or traded any villagers part of which I think ruins the fun. Yes, I want my dreamies but it's a little bit more special to have them move into town on their own. But that's just me.

I do prefer cute-looking villagers though!

I do both varied personalities and cute ones. I choose my favorite, best looking villager imo from each personality. I voted for only the cute ones though. c:

I choose them by their looks because I'm picky like that and I only really like cute villagers.

I like this a lot! :) I enjoy trading villagers sometimes. Unfortunately, for villagers that you'd like to rotate, voiding them can be a problem because it means you can't join in some trades and such, so it's easier to try to get someone to adopt them. :(

I chose mine by looks and nostalgia... Pancetti was in my first town and I fell in love with her so I decided I wanted her in my new town.

I like weird/unique looking villagers and food/object-themed villagers. I specifically wanted villagers that looked like objects (like gyroids or statues) or had strange eyes (like X eyes or completely black eyes), but there was too much personality overlap. I want to keep personalities varied because how boring would it be to talk to the same personalities over and over?

i've kinda given up on choosing villagers, now i just go with whoever comes.

I usually let them come and go randomly. I also don't TT. It makes the game fun and not repetitive. I would log on again sometime on the same day to just talk to my villagers. Lol, I'm weird like that. My fiance and I promised each other that we don't TT from the beginning when we got the game. xD

I used to choose mine first on whether or not they're new to the series. Like they've only ever appear in New Leaf and not in City Folk or Wild World at some point.
I always chose villagers with different personalities though. I always need the 8 different villager personalities in my town. I don't really need to do that anymore since I have every pwp, but it just seems more dynamic that way to have multiple personalities interacting with each other.
I now choose them also by how what makes them unique, like how Frita is a French fry and hamburger sheep lol.
