How do you use the plural of a Pokemon?

How do you say a plural form of a Pokemon's name? I say it without adding a "s" at the end. I say stuff like "I have 5 Charmander" whilst most Pokemon "fans" I know say "I have 5 Charmanders".

I remember reading somewhere that a Pokemon's singular noun is pronounced and spelled exactly like its plural noun.
