How do you plot reset?

What I do: TT to the following morning\day the new villager will move in, but a few minutes earlier than when the day starts, so I always TT to 5.58 AM, then go ahead and save and quit, wait 2 minutes before you make a new character, search around town with the new character, if the villager's house is in a nice spot you can go ahead and talk to isabelle and save and stuff - if not, just turn the 3ds off and start a new character again.
