I'll be completely honest
Even though the villagers in my town are mine and I've chosen virtually all of them, I don't really like them anymore...
My villagers are:
Lily (In boxes now woo!)
Gigi (I didn't choose her, but I still don't like her.)
Rod (Didn't choose but I like him!)
Tutu (I have a strong disliking to.)
Punchy (Such a generic villager - lacks originality.)
Lucky (I liked him at first, but I've grown to dislike him.)
Poncho (Love him.)
and lastly Flurry (She's cute, but like Punchy, she's boring.)
I only generally love three villagers in my town, and these are Poncho, Chevre (I received her via giveaway) and Kidd, my favourite villager! (I received him randomly and instantly fell in love with him!)
I see every other villager in my town apart from my two goats and Poncho as a bit boring. I don't understand the fascination surrounding all of these popular villagers, such as Marshall, Meringue, Kid Cat etc. I've got 2-3 popular villagers and I've grown to dislike them because all-in-all they're just totally boring...
I think to truly stay dedicated to your town and not lose interest, it's essential to have villagers that you actually enjoy socialising with in your game. I think all of these popular villagers have such a "you can look, but don't touch" attitude surrounding them and I think this is what isolates them from the rest of your "ordinary" villagers.
