I was just wondering how some people store their items, as i'm having an extremely hard time thinking about how to organize everything ):

I currently have my main character with a completed house & not so filled closet, & ONE mule (which i just relocated the house, so it's the first house size & nothing in closet)

My main character has one space at the museum, thinking about using all of them though.

If it helps, i kind of have a lot of things, i have a shop that i sell a variety of things. I don't TT.

Any storage tips, or suggestions to make it easier to find things?

Ex: alphabetically, by item type, do i need to make more mules for it to be easier, etc...

The struggle is so real, i have a gazillion things on the ground it's so ugly T.T

I can't guarantee this is the best way, but..

My 'A' slot is reserved for clothing. I typically don't horde a lot of clothing, so it's also for any lawn things I need, like flowers or saplings or fruits.

B has all of my back-up tools on the first page. From there it's all of my furniture, organized by set, or planned sets to use-- So, like, even if it isn't all the minimalist set for my cafe room in my house, it's still with all the cafe set things I plan to use with it.

C is mostly used to store gyroid sets that I want to use. I store them vertically, and because they come in groups of four mostly, I find it easier to just scroll down to see the rest of the sets. And, since I don't typically use all of the space for gyroids alone, I also store the unorderable furniture I don't have a use for in there.

Again, probably not the most space-conscious, but I've found it holds pretty much everything I could ever need.

No it's fine, thank you! It's good to get ideas from other people to see what works best & whatnot & maybe i can adjust it to my own storage habits & hopefully it can work out xD

I actually have a bunch of items, fossils, saplings, bush starts, hybrids, clothing, walls/floors, furniture... Pretty much everything you can buy i didn't resell at retail hoping to make a greater profit selling to people on here :/

A Slot has all my favorite clothing. The lucky items for each theme are in there.
B Slot has all of Gracie hat, glasses, umbrella and wigs.
C Slot has shoes, glasses and tools.

I use 2 rooms in the museum to store all of the Gracie clothing.

I than use my save mail for items that I don't use a lot or want to keep. Like Unorderable DLC.
To make is easier to find in the save mail I write what is in each letter. I than put all the same types of items in one slot.
One slot has all the items that Isabelle gave me during the holidays. Things that can't be ordered.
Another slot has some saved perfect fruit. I'm ready if a house drops in.

A is for furniture first and then carpets and wallpapers. The furniture is pretty much all unorderable.

B starts out with tools and wetsuits, then perfect fruit, then animals' original clothing and furniture for when I have the opportunity to get them back to original. Also, random furniture and stationary.

C is clothes. Hats then shirts then pants then shoes then glasses.

Museum 1 is all bushes. Other museums are random unorderable junk.

A slot has clothing or anything else I plan on using such as furniture or stationary.
B slot are the items I won't be using or planning to put up for trade or sale. Usually Gracie items, Saharah or any other unorderables.
C slot are the items I'll be using for my landscaping such as saplings, bush starts so I can plant everything quickly instead of having to visit the Nooklings everyday just to see if they have the stuff I need.

I'm not exactly a horder so every once in a while I'd check my closet and clear out and sell the items I know I won't be needing anymore.

The A slot in my drawer is for tools and other equips (like glow wands, beans, etc). I also have perfect fruit stored here. B slot is for shoes, socks, and accessories. C is empty usually but I put random junk in there from time to time, and it's good for it to be empty for things like turnips.

My museum has two walk-in closets, one that's for winter/fall with jackets, knit hats, and long pants, and the other is for summer/spring with tanks and t-shirts, dresses, and shorts. Another museum room has random junk I plan on selling or trading.

Finally, side characters store bush starts, unorderables I don't plan on selling, and are used for big deliveries.

A for gracie clothing, gracie furniture, and event furniture.

B for villagers pics, island items, other items, random clothes.

C for rare tools, event tools, streetpass stuff, DLC clothes and furniture.

Are you my twin? What is going on????? Lol

Before my towns upgraded to Gracie I had two characters a mule with male clothes and for extra event sets dlc ect and made the basement clothing and as flooring did not count a stems in room would throw some special flooring down. My first town Insaved everything, min fossils, beans, furniture, clothes in two museum rooms also a was clothes b wall and floor c accessories and furniture needed on hand.

After building u another town getting Gracie I went on a clean out, all reorderables sold off, non in museum or letters along with pictures and gold but anything non reorderables I sold off and feel so much better but this was also after I passed the HRA theme challenge by sticking as much fairy tale into home two rooms as could then cleaned up. At start it can be hard not to hoard though, but if you can rebuy it I say unless in middle of passing HRA theme game just save the special stuff a weight will lift. At the beginning it is hard, I am about t start selling off extra sets and such as with two I picked up two of each of everything and with many towns for dream quest last one coming yay, then can cycle, I have a lot from each season I know people want and I don't need it so once finish dream villager quest it is catalogue sales in each town, another clean up project. Need to make a list of all I have not looking forward to that one.

With me I think a second 3ds will help but that is not realistic for all at least at certain times. So I say if need to store basement before extra side rooms and museum is a great help then post office and keep a file A for this type, B for that..the specials or sets, ect. Then when do not need I say sell it and get some space back. Just my experience.

For my mayor slot A is clothes, shoes, accessories. B is unorderables. C is stuff I'm too lazy to deal with :p
Charlie has all my streetpass items.
Jose has my gardening stuff & hybrids.
Knives has some more unorderables.
I have a hoarding problem D:

Mine's all in ABC order...A slot for everyday items, B slot for themes for my rooms I haven't paid off yet, and C slot just for anything extra. :)
I hope I helped!

I use to be super organized about where to store things, but now, everything is all of the beach, lol. I am too much of a hoarder. If I had a good trade, or someone was really nice to me, its super hard for me to let things go. So it just accumulates. Which is actually what happens in real life. It if wasnt for hubby, I swear I would live in a hoarder's house, like you see on tv and stuff.

omgs. lol you guys are intense and amazing. i'm quite organized in real life and i'd like to think in ACNL as well, but i can't be bothered to keep so many things nor organize them all. i just try to organize it by type of item (clothes in one, furniture in another, etc).

every time i seem to organize it, it becomes ruined soon enough. i wish i had the patience.

I don't organize at all (although I should) I always find storage to be a problem. I only have one mule with a first stage house. The rooms on my main character are all pretty much filled. My closet is completely fill and has been basically since I started the game.

I tend to bury things around the outside of my house, but I hate doing that because it looks really ugly. Also I have really bad grass deterioration around my house, and I should really plant flowers around there to get rid of it. BUT I can't because I need to store my stuff somewhere!

SNIP

I'm not exactly a horder so every once in a while I'd check my closet and clear out and sell the items I know I won't be needing anymore.

Hah! I am EXACTLY a hoarder, so I have to fight myself tooth and nail to get rid of anything. Even when I sell the reorderable stuff it seems I have so much unorderable stuff that I don't have a place for it all. One of my towns IS my closet right now. The entire thing is positively full of stuff. Thank goodness that I now have it so that most of what is left on the ground are saplings, bush starts, fertilizer, and tools.

I am getting better, tho, but it is a never-ending battle with me.

For how I organize when I do - A is for all my furniture.
B is for all my clothing
C is for gems, fossils, special bugs and fish, and the next items I will have customized

My museum is FULL of unorderables, Gracie, my specially created patterned Cyrus stuff, hard to get fish and bugs, one-piece fossils, fossil models, and now the candy and stuff I'm saving up for Halloween. And probably also some stuff that IS orderable that I just can't part with...

I hoard everything and am using all my museum exhibits at the moment. One's a toy room, one's for unorderables, another's a sports room and the last one is for fossils/space themed. I also put rare bugs/fish there for villager requests if I have room.

As for storage...

A is for general use -
1. spare letter sets, wrapping paper and medicine
2. hedges and trees that I don't know where to plant yet
3. spare fruit and perfect fruit
4. spare equipment
5. fossils
6. fossils

B -
1. shirts
2. dresses/pants
3. carpets and wall paper
4. carpets and wall paper
5. accessories
6. shoes/socks

C- furniture that I hoard and might use some day or want to give to villagers

A is for my clothes, sometimes I might put there some furniture in case B is full.
B is for furniture, I usually sell all of my orderble stuff, so the only furniture I keep on my storage are unorderable or customized.
C is for other stuff like fruits, extra tools etc.

Also I put some furniture sets and extra furniture that won't fit to my storage to the museum.
