How do you make gif avatars work

I made a gif on makeagif and uploaded it to my avatar, but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

The gif only works if its dimensions are 100x100 or 150x100 if you have the avatar width extension. Either that or you haven't bought the avatar animation add on yet.
