How do you like to lay out villager plots?

At first I had in mind I wanted to make a little neighborhood and line all the houses up, but then I just started picking random places lol. Most are on the left side of the island but two made it to the top right 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm planning on having a neighborhood with a yard for villagers (hopefully) even though its going to take a while with relocation.

I've given them a ton of space. Way more than needed. Will need to go back to the drawing board.
Almost every one of them have a 3x3 yard.

Instead of giving each resident their own yard, I created common recreation areas near their houses. There’s a community pool, picnic area, playground, garden plots and a little carnival.

How much space is there in between the houses (Horizontal and Vertical)?

Do you like to have your villagers in little neighbours or just in one off areas by themselves? Currently I've got my team set out in groups of 2 in different locations around the island but am thinking of moving them around a bit. Just trying to gage ideas from what you guys like :)

I decided to give islanders some space with their individual properties. (Perhaps Teddy, in back, has the most space. In front of Bonbon’s house is a swimming pool and hedges to indicate that is her property. Her house, on the map, looks like I did not give her much property. I did. Lucha also has an area just south of him—for a barbecue and outdoor eating area—meant for him.)

I have the main level for community areas and, on the west side of the island, is where one will find the campsite. (It kind of feels private when you explore the island.)

I also opened up the hidden beach. I decided I did not want to use a ladder anymore to have to get there.

My islanders are on the second level. They can go up, to where the humans are, or they can come down, to the main level of the community area plus, in the north, they can go to the park-like atmosphere of where there are rides, a couple sections of refreshment areas, and they can go to the hidden beach

I wanted the human characters on the third level. For them. I just gave my rep, Candy, a private area for a picnic around the start of the river. I think it is a nice touch for the top human character.

On the first level, I cleared out trees so that there will be an unobstructed capability of the sun to shine down on flowers that I will be developing. You know—hybrids. With the layout of the island, it works. And I have used hedges to keep them contained. That you have to walk cautiously. This is all in front of the community and shop buildings.

Who knows what will come of this?

I don't prefer to have all of my villagers crammed onto one corner of the island in a single neighborhood. I spread my houses out throughout my island so it's populated all over. The neighborhoods can be cute, but it's not my style is all

I planned to originally have a few of them grouped together close to RS - mainly my jock, uchi and lazy starters. I might even put my house down next to theirs if I can fit it in. In my northeast, which is shaping up to be a sandy beach resort place, I have a few villagers hanging out on a strip. But I also have several of them off in their own areas - Marina's my orchard keeper atm so she has her house way out on the other side of town like a farm/countryside with her own isolated front yard. I have Sandy and Monty in different areas of the mountain forest.

I put Pashmina's house surrounded by higher ground with country fencing, bushes, and trees. It looks very secluded and cozy, too. I'm putting other houses on lower, mid, and high grounds as well with inclines leading up to those areas. I haven't been sure how to set up the houses, so I'm hoping this works out.

My villagers are in a neighbourhood pretty much near the airport and residential service. Each house has their own (rather small) garden. I am still trying to see where I will put the 9th and 10th resident though. My other 8 take up about 4 acres because of the gardens... and paths... and hedges... and brick fencing... and just... the decorating

A bit to elaborate, when you leave the airport, the residential area is on the right side. The houses are arranged in a 3x3 format, and right in the middle there is a pond. So when you leave the airport, the first path on the right has 3 houses, the second has a house, a pond and another house, and the last has 3 houses again
