How do you know when Gracie is in your town?

I think spent over 100k at T.I.Y and was waiting for the renovation message from one of the little racoons but I never got one. I looked up the upgrade info from T.I.Y to emporium and apparently you also have to get 4 fashion checks from Gracie and she randomly comes to your town? I have never seen her once :S What am I missing here!

She'll be standing at your town square or whatever it's called.

She's completely random in when she decides to show up, though.

there's no designated dates as to when she shows up, though; her appearing is completely random, and will take a while to get all 4 fashion checks without time travelling.

She's a random visitor just like Redd, Katrina and Gulliver. It can take a while to get all 4 visits

It's random but check the plaza a lot. In the morning Gracie wasn't in the event plaza when I played 2 of my players.
In the evening Gracie was standing in the event plaza. Not sure what happened but happy.

Only items with a sold out sign count towards your total. So items like paper don't count.
While you wait start looking to see if you have enough to pass each theme check.

She'll just be in the plaza. It's a game of luck. Sometimes she'll come often, sometimes it seems like she never comes at all. Good luck!

Her appearance is completely random. Unlike some characters like Gulliver or Redd, who will appear once a week, she may come to your town three times in three weeks, and then don't show up for two months, which is basically what happened to me, lol.

I've always taken note of this from a previous posting of yours - there ought to be a reason why this happens - the appearance of Katie may be one?
Possibly Phineas - oddly yesterday several of my villagers were saying they had seen Phineas in town, so I guess I'm ready for a badge, but he was nowhere to be seen. (also the case on a reload).
That the game may have had him earmarked to be there (albeit he wasn't) may still be enough to prevent Gracie.
I'm not playing in real time, so it wasn't a Sunday.

I've always taken it that this game allows up to two NPCs' in town at any one time, but I guess it depends on how the NPC is programmed as to whether you get those two actually showing.

Gracie appeared in my duck town Quackle recently.It took almost a year after my T.I.Y. was built before she started showing up.Like wolfie1 said,her appearances are very random.I got through the first three fashion checks in a little less than two weeks but it took about three weeks until she came back for the fourth and final check.My Emporium opened less than a week after that.I think my other town Fonebone is about due for a Gracie visit since the T.I.Y. there opened not long after Quackle's T.I.Y.

As others have said, her appearance is random. Though in my experience, I've gotten four checks within a month in a half on two files. So maybe I'm just lucky. If you don't like waiting around, ask your doctor if Time Traveling is right for you. Also, have clothes ready.

Did you have Katie in your town at the time? Deli said Phineas was in town when I started the game a few days ago. I couldn't find him until I took Katie to another town.

For Gracie I didn't see any special visitors but maybe Phineas was in town. He does like to hide. I usually make a stop at the police station everyday and ask 8 times what is new in town before I leave. Sometime Booker will give it up right away and other times I have to wait for the 8 time. He finally says Phineas in town but you probably already knew that. Wish I could say no I didn't know he was in town.

The missing Gracie a 2nd player went up to the store and check the event plaza again to be sure. No Gracie. The only thing I did was take my 3DS out shopping and I got a tag. When I came back in the evening Gracie was standing in the plaza.
Maybe it was a glitch. Someone posted that the villagers told them that Gracie was in town but there was no Gracie. Save/quit and loaded the game up and Gracie was there.

Yes I did have Katie (ignoring her) - that's the reason - thank you!

As for Gracie - cos of what you have said about her non appearance/appearing later - I do check the plaza several times - but didn't realise that the Police Officer could change his speech if you press him - I'll try that, as & when needed. Again thank you!

I don't TT as such (albeit I freeze time to play every ingame day). With multiple towns its means very slow playing, so I'm still in the throes of Gracie visits in several towns - I don't do all 4 visits in one day, just take them as they come, so making sure I don't miss a visit from her is important.
