Hey guys! I'm curious on how you guys organize your storage. Mostly because I'm having a bit of a space issue right now.

I'm in the process of trying to make my town my dream town (of course lol) and I have all these furniture stockpiled for future rooms of mine that I want to put into, but at the moment I lack the ka-ching ($$$) for the rooms, especially my main house (friggin 600k for expansion!?!?!) So I'm also trying to sell my items that I don't want on the forums to earn money. Unfortunately they're taking up so much space that not even my 3 other characters can hold them all!

So what do you guys do? If you guys have orderable sets do sell, do you just order them/get the item, drop it somewhere and pick it back up or sell it to Re-Tail and then order them again when people want them? Do you drop some of your items onto the ground and disregard the perfect-town requirements for a clean town?

Do you guys also use mailboxes? I've put a bunch of clothing items in there that I don't want to toss but don't want to keep either. Now I have no idea what's inside what within my mailbox lol

Since I collect clothes for Gracie's fashion check, my storage quickly filled up. I bought all four exhibits in the museum and made some closets out of them! c:

The exhibit thingy in the museum is also great for storage. You have 4 rooms you can fill with furniture and other items! As sucky as it is, your storage mixed with the other 3 character's storage and the mail stuff and the exhibit rooms combined are pretty much your only hope for storage. They really need to fix this in the next game.

I just sell everything that I can re-order. I store the ones I do want to keep in the museum rooms. I store bushes and trees in the closet so I can hoard them and give them away.

For me I mainly use the storage. If I have extra items I really don't want to sell and can't fit anywhere I bury them aha as if I place them on the ground they'll impact my perfect town rating. I don't use the letters to store clothing or furniture as it would be too much of a hassle and I wouldn't be able to keep track of things. I've heard of a method of mailing letters to yourself and putting what item you're storing in the letters so like 'Dear me, Green table. From me.' I'd never do that myself though.

Wow! Thanks guys! The exhibit one is one that I keep forgetting about - I actually did store something in 1 room but they're only fruits and I was planning on making an out-doorsy kinda exhibit with it. The other ones are gyroids, nintendo, and space exhibits that I am in progress of making. I never really thought of them as storage though! Thanks for that suggestion! Maybe I should do like "roccoco" storage or something so I can keep track of the sets I can sell!

Also that letter to the future one sounds neat! But I also agree with you that the mailing part is a bit tedious... I wish I could see the present's name instead of saving back and forth. I never understood why Animal Crossing made everything so tedious-- like if I want to buy wrapping paper I'd have to sit through a whole bunch of conversation from Timmy/Tommy asking if I know how to use it, and basically every single dialogue and saving I'd have to do for pretty much everything. The mail is like the worse because you HAVE to read it in order to toss it >.> I hope the next animal crossing won't be this tedious haha

I sell reorderables until I need them. I use the "save mail" function for things that I know I won't use for a while, or items like the feathers and stuff I just want to save for collection purposes. Basically I buy a lot of stationary and compose a letter (it doesn't matter who to since you aren't mailing it) and just write whatever I'm attaching. Sometimes I just write a one word description like "xmas" for things I know I'll want when that time rolls around.

Then I attach it to the letter and go to the post office and store it with the "Save Mail" function. As I said, I only do that for things I know I won't want right away because it makes no sense to trudge through saved mail whenever I need something.

Clothing goes in the first (and sometimes second) tab of my inventory. I tend to sell most of the reorderable stuff that I know I'm not going to be wearing soon. Even so this takes the majority of my inventory.

I have 2 of my museum rooms set up for actual exhibits of collections. One of them is my treasure/trophy room. I put anything I win or any awesome items I get that I don't need in my house in this room. I have a royal crown, some artwork, most of Gulliver's stuff, all of that. Another room has all of the fortune cookie items.

I have previously used one of these rooms as a sort of walk in closet and I may do so again. I just take the clothes I wear most often and display them in aisles, making sure to leave space to walk through and pick what I want. I think I'm going to do this again as even though I have a fully expanded house I seem to be running low on space.

Ah so you do the same nintendo room as I do xD woo high five!

I think your mail storage space is a lot better than mine-- I probably would do it if I have the time to fix the huge mess that it's already in lol! I don't think I'll be taking anything out, matter of fact I've already forgotten what I put in there!

However there's also another way I've tried organizing my mail storage that I forgot to mention. For items that I use as gifts but don't want taking up space (such as fortune cookie repeats, I usually just give them to my sister) I put it in a letter that is opened, so I know that opened letters = gifts, and closed letters = unimportant.

I mostly use the train station lockers (so handy!), my pocket letters and the letters in the post office (for items I will use in the future or that I just want to keep).

My mom uses letters for storage. It seems like a hassle, but it works for her. Wow, I like the museum idea! It'd also be a great way to plan out rooms so you can see what looks good before you set it down in your own home. I tend to keep my drawers tidy and neat, so I've never needed to use a secondary storage option. When my drawers get full, I just reorganize them and sell the things I don't use or need.
