I know that 2 hybrid red roses make blues, but I've seen people saying they start out with like 2 blue roses and now they have a whole field of them. I have had 2 blue roses next to each (in checkerboard pattern) for almost a month now and haven't bred any. How do I do this??

Are you watering them everyday? Make sure to water and fertilize them everyday and a few more should pop up.

Yep I have been watering, is fertilizing necessary? I have never done that for any of my hybrids and my others are fine but the blue roses are not breeding at all, I will try it though!

Someone was nice enough to give me two blue roses.

I put them on the beach and watered them. I did not water any other flowers, only the blue roses. It took a couple of days of watering before I got a third, but since then they have produced enough to give some away to a number of friends.

Edited to add: I never use fertilizer.

Hm, I wonder why mine aren't breeding then, I water them everyday and they are with the rest of my hybrids. I will try putting them on the beach and see if it makes a difference

I make a bunch of orange roses and use them to breed blue ones. Same with tulips.

If you have beautiful town, your villagers are all watering flowers as well, and only so many new flowers can pop up each day. Sounds like you are just having severely bad luck. :(

Other than just watering the flowers you want to breed and using fertilizer, there's not much you can do. I don't think that putting them on the beach should make any difference. I've heard rumors that putting a Jacob's Ladder near flowers makes them more likely to hybridize, but I'm not sure if there's any truth to that.

You're probably just getting unlucky. I've been trying to get blue pansies for literally over a month now (and I have a massive checkerboard pattern), and I don't have a single one yet, so it's not just you. :P

I place my flowers in a checkerboard patern as *x*x*
x*x*x

They should eventually grow, I literally have a farm of blue roses and growing another one right now.

Where is the place that they noticed hybrids grown a lot? Place them there.
I did place mine on the beach by my house. It was the spot where hybrid like to grow a lot.
I did use fertilizer and got a new one each day. I also go by what the lucky phone or Katrina says to wear. If I don't have the item I put on the tinglehood.
Mine grew like crazy and than stopped. So I took 9 blue rose and put them on the other small beach. Put 3 sets of flowers in 3 different spots. Got 6 new blue roses.

When breeding flowers, I create what I call a breeding square.

After having a majority of my animal crossing income come from breeding & selling flowers, I've found the breeding squares to be most efficient. You can make multiple, but I prefer to make one square of each type of flower I'm trying to breed and only water 1-3 of those squares a day. Those squares typically produce 1-3 flowers a night.

Edit; Since you only have two, make half of the square until you get two more (diagonally from eachother), then finish the square.

I just water just them in my town and give them fertilizer. There is a high chance of one or two being bred the next day.

I got tons of blue hybrids when I had no other flowers that could make hybrids. I got a ton very quickly. Maybe rearrange your other flowers so that they won't make more hybrids, and only water the blue roses. (I didn't use fertilizer.)

I have a bunch on my beach, and have never ever gotten a new one from them. I didn't think hybrids grew on the beach, but apparently it's just my beach that sucks for that. If the area they're in is not working, I'd suggest moving them somewhere else. I've had that happen before, where my flowers weren't cooperating, and then they started giving me hybrids. Also, and again this could just be me, try watering ONLY the flowers you want to breed.
