How do you add the secret ingredient?

I am cooking for Franklin but I'm not quite sure how to add the secret ingredient. It's only letting me add the three manila clams. Does anyone else have this problem?

i don't think there is a secret ingredient for the clam chowder.

when you have the secret ingredients, you need to give them to him after he's completed the dish of food. he'll then add the secret ingredient after to make it better. you just need the ingredient in your inventory and to speak with him.

is the secret ingredient for clam chowder. Like 6iixx said you talk to him with the ingredient in your inventory and he'll automatically add it.

The secret ingredient is a scallop. Once you give him the clams, he'll make the dish, then tell you the next recipe. If you have a scallop in your pocket the next time you speak with him, he'll ask for it. Give it to him, and he'll add it to the chowder.

The same goes for the other 3 recipes.

Also, even if you finish all four dishes without them, you can add them after (all four are finished) and still get the reward.

Once you finish each dish, have the secret ingredient on you and speak to Franklin. He'll ask for it and add it in for you.
