there’s just so many villagers that i want. it’s a pain to decide which personality type that i want two of. how do you guys deal with this? do you have sets that you cycle through? or do you just love the random move ins?

I don't really think about it. I have a giant list mostly based on design and nostalgia but I don't mind having other villagers in the mean time until I get the ones I want. It's less stress and more fun when you don't have to think about saving up tickets and island hopping for hours and getting disappointed.

yes, nostalgia is such a turning point for me. i don’t think that i would have loved lobo or hippeux if it weren’t for new leaf.

I don't, that's why I'm planning on buyinh 5 more switches to fit all of my actual dreamies.
Jokes aside, it's really tough! I love all of the wolves, but want a town with all of the personality types and then I love all of the deers and want them as well. The cats and the dogs also are cute... It's a mess. As of now, I'm just going with the flow and whenever i get the chance to move in a villager fron my "wish list" i do, but i don't actively search for them, as I don't have the heart to make an actual villager planning list. XD

I have a set few that I really want like Cheif for instance. He was my main man in City Folk so he's a must. Other than those few, I'm kinda rolling with the punches. I don't like uchis so much so once I get all the uchi DIY's, I can trade out. And who knows, a villager I really like now, I might be ready to switch in the future.

I've recently come to terms with the idea that it's never going to be possible to have all my dreamies on my island at the same time t.t, so after I get their pictures I'm going to cycle them out. Of course I currently have 5 villagers I would never consider letting go of.

yeah, my approach is never to keep the same villager. it kinda evades the feeling of nothingness that comes when you don’t know what to do in these types of games. i enjoy getting new villagers and building new relationships.

I have nearly all amiibos available on hand so it's never been a problem for me, I'm just lazy to scan so I buy them sometimes.

For choosing them, it's kinda like whatever appeals to me. 50% of my islanders are from NL so it was easy to pick ones I want in.

It's hard since I like a lot of the normal villagers, but not enough to have more than 2 of them. I've debated buying their amiibo and just scanning them in to rotate them in and out. I also picked up an extra lazy villager since Sherb and Beau are so cute.

I have to have a personality balance though so that's factored in to my final decisions. Species doesn't matter to me. There's maybe 5 I wouldn't let go of ever where some of the others are permanent now but I could switch them later if I decide I want someone else.

I'm slowly acquiring Amiibos for the villagers I have (and have grown to love) and the villagers I most want. The idea is that in a sense I'll never permanently lose someone I might want back, while being able to try out other appealing options. I realize this isn't a possibility for everyone, but there are some pretty affordable Amiibos out there if you really hunt.

i made an original list of the ones i wanted the most, and now i'm second guessing the ones i haven't connected with. i'm going to be replacing the ones i'm not as close with with at least one normal and some of the villagers that almost made my list once i get their pictures and they ask to move. hopefully i'll connect more with my future residents

I'm struggling with that right now because I have a lot of amiibos and I'm having a hard time deciding who to add to my island. I'll just be slowly inviting ones I might want to my campsite and then seeing after that which to invite x3.

It's hard. I keep wanting a villager and then losing interest after a while. There are a few that I still plan to keep indefinitely, but the dreamies list isn't really working so far. It's more like... 50/50.

i struggle with this constantly LMAO... i have a couple of villagers you'd have to pry from my cold dead hands but i quickly realized a dreamies list isn't possible when there's 400+ villagers and there's so many i want to get to know. i feel a little fake cycling through villagers so quickly but really there's just a lot of love to go around for a lot of villagers and cycling through them is perfectly valid! it's fun to make new friends and maybe discover villagers you didn't know you would love so much. most of my villager slots are flexible and i like giving away my villagers to other people who want them after i've spent a good amount of time with them or i've lost interest in them so it's a win for everyone

There a lot I like but then I don’t mind moving out. However I do hesitate bacause some of the villagers I don’t mind moving out does not have any amiibo’s. So I am still contemplating on letting them go including Ray Ray and Judy >_<

I've decided to not trade, and not using amiibos, and only invite those I meet on island/camp.

Recently decided to let Dierdre/Beau/Sterling/Margie go because they are my starting villagers and I hope they can live in their actual homes, and Lucky/Marina because I traded them from others way early into the game.

I feel a lot easier after after making those decisions, I'll have 4 slots to fill soon :) really looking forward to meet Lucky/Beau/Dierdre/Marina again on islands, I love them to the bits. But if I dont, I dont. I may let new villagers pick up their catchphrases :)

I let my villagers come and go once I get their photo it's ok for them to move. There's too many villagers I want and so little space so I have to have them move away eventually :(

I keep only a handful of my villagers and let the rest cycle through! There's no fun for me only having 10!

i pick five i physically can not live without and then cycle through the ones that i like for the rest of the five. it’s mostly so i can have all my favorite villagers at one point but to also see if ill like anyone more than someone else and in that case they become a permanent resident ;;

I tried to put together a dreamie list, but truth is there are just too many villagers I'd like to try out there for that. Other than Melba who I'm waiting on an amiibo card for, and Billy, Ursala and Clay currently on my island, I can't decide on a permanent snooty, cranky, smug, etc. I'll probably use a few methods that don't require TT, like resetting the move-out thought bubble and who my campers kick out, to make that process easier, but otherwise I'll see what comes to me and if I like it, I'll keep it for a while.
