I don't want this in my game.
Is there a way to get rid of it?

I resent that the game is all about smartphones and technology when AC is nothing like that!

I spend my life on a mobile phone, and to come in to this game and have that crap shoved down my throat literally sickens me.

APPS, APPS, APPS!

Then I got a nintendo online account to trade, and Nooklink adds more APPS to that stupid Crookphone. :-/

Also, even though nobody talks to my villagers, all my villagers do, is talk about people I don't even know.

Nintendo knows there are folks that don't want to hear about other players, and once again, have FORCED this on those people. Me being one of them.

I now don't even want to amiibo in anyone, not even Wolfgang who has been in every town I've had since Wild World, because I don't want to end up disliking him for constantly talking about other players until the duration of my island.

It's made me not want to have anything to do with my villagers. :(

The moment the internet came into it, everything turned to crap.

End of rant.

i’m afraid you’re stuck with the phone. i agree about the player mentions, though - literally nobody has ever spoken to my villagers besides me and yet every guest i have gets talked about. this was avoidable in new leaf by simply asking visitors to not talk to your villagers but it seems that has changed this time around, which kind of sucks

Honestly I'm getting tired of having the little notification on the top left corner of my screen every time someone comes online on the Best Friends app. I don't want to keep checking the damn thing.

What really baffles me about the inclusion of the phone is how they didn't add some obvious things to it like... idk a way to CALL (or text) villagers so they can tell you where they are? A bank app? They added all these useless features to the phone and they didn't include any obvious ones besides a shopping app...

I honestly don’t know what to tell you in regards to the Nookphone. You knew for months in advance that the apps were going to be a big part of the game, so you made an informed decision when you bought it. I actually agree that the concept doesn’t mesh too well with an Island getaway, but that’s what they chose to go for and that’s what I knew I’d be getting.

In regards to villagers mentioning visitors, it might make you feel better to know that they do ease up on it. From my experience, they’ll mention people for a few days and then never again. If you really want to avoid that dialogue, you could decide to only visit others’ Islands for trades.

(but like come on, they live on an Island with only a few other people—of course they’ll be excited about someone new coming by!)

Honestly, I feel like mobile phones and apps are becoming a thing in a lot of recent games. Kingdom Hearts 3 had one, the new Cooking Mama is constantly referencing Instagram, Persona 5 was built pretty much around an app in your phone (though that fits a little more than other games.) It's something that's been bothering me a lot but it's just how it is.

Regarding villagers talking about other people, it really doesn't bother me that much lol. Maybe I'm just more lax than other people but at least it's something different than their recycled dialogue. It's also really cute when they mention my real life friends that come over. I tell them every time like "Bam said you seemed cool!"

Villagers constantly talking about random visitors is definitely the most annoying part of the multiplayer.

I'm not bothered by the phone menu though, I think it's a cute stylized menu and I love customizing the phone. Notifications could be bothersome, but honestly I often forget to check my NookMiles because it's gone so quickly.

If it weren't for technology we wouldn't have animal crossing. IDK, I think this is just a weird thing to complain about. I don't feel like smartphones are being "shoved down my throat" by being in ACNH, they are literally just keeping up with the times. It's a cute, convenient way of accessing features like the camera, terraforming, messaging best friends, the critterpedia, the nook shopping, etc.

But you are entitled to your opinion.

Sorry, but I disagree.

I think it's pretty smart how they laid out the menu UI into a smart phone. It keeps all your necessary actions organized and it is way less invasive than, I don't know, pressing start or having to navigate through many menus. Instead you press one button and see everything easy to read visually. They were smart to keep it compact and the UX works for that. It's fluid.

I disagree. The phone is far from in my throat when I play NH. The phone is only there when I need it to be. It's nothing more than a menu designed to look like a phone. Animal Crossing is in the 21st century. Smartphones are apart of life now. If you want out of the technology age, there is a game called Minecraft that may be suitable. No phones, and no Nintendo Online needed.

They added all these useless features to the phone and they didn't include any obvious ones besides a shopping app...

I don't think there is a useless app, unless you unlocked more than me.

I typically have this similar mindset at seeing modern tech in the games I grew up with too. But I think it’s not the fault of me being a prune or anything like that. One moment you’re lucky if you successfully entered the web using dial-up while the phone lines are backed up, the next everyone and their mother has easy access to a wi-fi connection. When you think about it, it can hit you like a train, how much tech has advance in such a short time. These games are just evolving with the times too, and there’s nothing wrong with that as long as they implement the concept well, which I think NH really does. I use a majority of the apps provided.

As for the villagers, yeah I don’t like how they talk about visitors that only stuck around for less than two minutes. At least they don’t talk about it 24/7 like they did in NL.

I have to agree with villagers talking about random visitors being very annoying, it would make sense if my villagers actually talked to them in the first place.

A few days ago turnips were selling for a high price on my island, so I decided to let people in to sell.
I probably let 50+ people in to sell, it's been two days and my villagers are still talking about random people that were on my island for 5 minutes each.

"Useless" was probably a bit harsh but I don't use 70% of these most of the time... the only ones I use regularly are Miles, Designer, DIYs and shopping. I just meant I would get more use out of a telephone app.

I disagree. I don't feel like the phones are shoved down our throats. In fact, I don't even open the phone that often.

I do agree that villagers talking about random visitors is really annoying. Its the one thing I didn't want to happen, but I don't have much of a choice in it.

If you don’t want the villagers talking about random people, trade in someone else’s town. That way yours will never meet them

Although I don’t understand why you’re THAT annoyed about it cause they still talk about other stuff, it’s not ONLY random people

This is my only problem. When my friends visit me I encourage them to talk with villagers, or even with strangers that come to my island so I can craft them items or to exchange items, if they are curious about a villager I'm always ''Sure, go talk to them, check them out!''. I'm also on the boat of telling them later if my villagers spoke about them.

What I don't like is when someone comes to do something quick, we don't even interact, and everyone in my island is talking about them ;u;. It may sound silly but that for example my friend talks to Gayle only and then later Del is talking as if they had talked with him weirds me out a little, it's like they turn into hive mind characters but it may be just me

I have people come to my island to do a trade. They go no more than 3 feet away from the airport and the villagers all talk about them as if they all had a good old time together during their visit.
