How do I add another villager?

Hello gang,

I want to add a new villager to have an extra house and also... MORE STORAGE!!

Now, my boyfriend who I don't live with, his profile is second user on my Switch because we share digital games, he downloaded my copy of AC on launch, played it for an hour and hasn't played since
I created a new profile (didn't link it to an account or anything.) and when i launch the game and pick that new profile with it says it doesn't own the game. Anything I can do? Apologies in advance if this is a silly question, I'm not very technical.

Did you try googling the error code that comes up with the message? I've never encountered this problem...

Do you have an account on his switch as well?

I think what is happening, is the game thinks you have a different switch console that is currently set up as your primary console. On your primary console, any profile can play the games you own. On a non-primary console, only your profile can play the games you own.
