I've seen a lot of people say mostly from dropping your DS and having the game pop out. But is really just that? I've dropped my DS at least 10-15+ times and my game has popped out maybe 3-4 times. Are you during regular game play, or is it while your saving or such? I usually play with my DS sitting on my desk so when I'm plot resetting, ect. I don't have a chance of dropping it on the floor unless it's charging and my dog comes into my room and yanks the cord with her.

When my town corrupted, I had my headphones in and I was walking into the kitchen to get a snack. I decided to turn my game off then since I don't like eating while playing my DS and decided to save, but the cord got stuck on one of the knob thingies without noticing. I was in the middle of saving when it yanked me back when I walked forward and my DS fell onto the floor and the game popped out.

I also accidently removed my cartridge in the middle of playing earlier today, maybe that triggered a corruption easier?

So what happened to your game exactly? I mean how do you know it's corrupted? I've dropped my DS once and the game popped out. I just lost everything since the last time I had saved. No other problems since...but I want to know what people mean when they say corrupted. Does it mean it's unplayable, you lose everything, or something else...?

Wow...this thread came up at a rather good time. Tartarus is gone...again...However this time I blame it on myself this time. I just dropped mine again!

I don't think that it's a faulty cartridge....I am just a klutz. Well. Time to go through making it AGAIN! At least it lasted longer this time! I need to be more careful.

From what I know....
Taking the cartridge out when it's still on
Turning the power off when saving
Dropping the 3DS with cartridge popping out

I don't know if dust has anything to do with it :/

Turning the power off while saving or too fast "after" saving. Wait for the title screen to load fully.

Turning the 3DS off, removing cart., or home screen-close suspended software while game is saving can cause it.
But just because it can cause it doesn't mean just because one of those things happen your cart. will corrupt... Just that it could happen.
From what I have noticed, though... It seems that once a cart. has had a corrupted file in the past, it is more likely to get a corrupted file again in the future in the event one of those things happen again.

Now after reading all these, I'm really scared that something like this happens D: I knew that if you take the game out too fast when saving the file might corrupt, but I didn't know that if you drop the Nintendo the game pops out so easily..? I've actually dropped my Nintendo few times, but nothing like that happened..

Omg my ds falls off my bed onto the floor all the time and the game pops out. Probably happened 10-20 times (I know, I should put it away, but I always get so sleepy and then knock it when I'm tossing and turning. Looks like I need to get it in order because I would literally cry if I lost my town!!

I'm worried too. They should have a better locking device on the game cartridges if it's so easy for them to get corrupted from falling out. I mean, what about the little kids (and the grownup little kids who are clumsy like me) that play with these...you 'd think they'd make them a little more sturdy. :/

My 3DS I think has only fallen twice since I have had it... which has been since June/July of last year...
And both distances have been from the height of the couch cushion you sit on to the floor... And both times it was my husbands fault. ((and he really got an earful from me))

But really they shouldn't have to be made with a better locking system.
These aren't Nobi's for 3 year olds. These are gaming systems. Expensive gaming systems. Take care of them. They cost money. Nintendo shouldn't be responsible for your neglect.
Dropping them and a game popping out losing a save file that corrupts a town is one of the smallest, inexpensive things that can happen to dropping this thing. Be happy you didn't do so much damage that you would have to actually replace the system.
If a child is too young to understand the consequences of that happening, then they don't need this system. Parents should get them something that is more suited and made for children that is built to last those drops and falls since it was made for small children.

I wasn't talking about a toddler or anything. I mean I get what you're saying, but if I dropped my ipod on the floor, and everything on it disappeared, I'd be sad...much less a game that I've put almost a year of work into. If it's not a bad enough drop to damage the system, then it shouldn't be bad enough to corrupt a game....the problem seems to be with the game popping out, and it wouldn't be that hard to put a better locking system on it. I mean even the SD card seems more protected...

I agree with Faye. 3ds' should be treated with care and should never be dropped 10-15 times. My 3ds has dropped once in 6 months and it was because the dog came running through when it was plugged in and yanked it out of my hands. No damage, I thankfully have a case on it.

I doubt anyone's just, you know, throwing their game across the room. But accidents happen. I agree 10-15 times is careless for sure though...

This argument just makes me think about how people get mad when they throw their controllers and they get pissed because they broke. Or how they leave their came/controller out and a kid or a dog chews it up/breaks it. It's your fault it got broke. The company doesn't need to make a better controller to withstand those type of things, you need to take care of your stuff.

And if you have that much problem with dropping your system... get a wrist strap.
If it is a charge problem with an animal pulling the cord, make sure it is plugged in behind something so they can't reach the outlet to snag the cord and have the system sitting on something higher up, cord out of the way, and kinda "blocked" in a little to keep pets like cats from just pushing it off.

Yes they do... I see it... Brats these days do it all the time... Saw it at walmart about a week ago.

Well brats don't deserve any sympathy, so you're right there.

But the people on this thread obviously are not in that situation. They actually care about their games not getting corrupted and they're concerned about accidents that they can't control.

i know i've accidentally dropped my 3ds from 7 feet before and there was no damage, not even the game cartage came out
