How did you plan your town?

I am not nearly as dedicated as you. ;u;

My town is still fairly new, so I'm still working on the groundwork.
Basically when I started my town I almost immediately tore down all my trees and moved all the flowers I had to the beach. I had a general idea of where I wanted my path to go and I laid that down + moved my original bridge as well as built a second bridge for easier access to my house (my mayor's house was waay too far away from the first bridge). As new villagers moved in/out I plot reset mostly so they wouldn't plant their plot where my paths were already aligned, I wasn't (and still am not) too picky about where their houses land as long as it in the way. I put my campsite in it's own little corner and planted a bunch of trees around the area to make it feel more woodsy.

Currently I'm working on planting trees and bushes as well as figuring out where I'd like to put potential PWPs once I actually get them.

Atm I am trying to find the right paths but I pretty much wrote down the areas the villagers will live and the order they will be in as well as where the campsite will be. From there I plan what should be around them. Like for when I get Ankha I want to put pyramids and a sphinx near her house close to the river so its kinda like the Nile. I wanted to make a more forest area for the campsite and still thinking what I can do with the beach. I am getting better at the pixel art to make some custom patterns and I don't even want to think about the houses atm.

I started by laying paths to all the permanent things, cutting down trees and such that were in the way. Then, I laid paths to villager houses. I kind of planned out what PWPs I wanted, then started planting trees. Flowers came after that, then shrubs once I upgraded T&Ts enough.

I totally get the graph paper thing, though. A few days ago, I decided to really plot out where I wanted my villagers and used graph paper to do it. There's something very rewarding about it. :)

I tried planning my town with bush and tree tiles, but I was never satisfied enough with where I planned them to actually plant them... We'll see how my landscaping goes with the graph paper method though. c: I'm moving in my villagers currently, so the path is next to come shortly followed by landscaping! ^^ Since I'm doing dirt paths, part of the path planning is lining them with bushes/trees/flowers, so after that the landscaping should be fairly easy. c:
